And it seems to be going well for the vice president so far. The remainder of the reunion tour by the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction, the group’s first in 14 years, has been canceled. At that point, Farrell was seen throwing a punch at Navarro, though it wasn’t clear from the footage whether it really landed. While Dave was keeping Perry at arm’s length to de-escalate the situation, Dan rushed over to de-escalate as well by holding Perry back. Farrell sang well, Perkins crushed it behind the kit, Navarro shredded and Avery anchored the band with his steady work on bass. … However, when it came to singing the songs, Farrell nailed most of them.”The tour by Jane’s Addiction was a co-headlining one shared with another veteran ’80s/’90s band, Love & Rockets.

In 2019, the government sued Musical.ly, the company that later became TikTok, for alleged COPPA violations. There are 170 million American TikTok users. In 2020, Trump signed an executive order that would ban TikTok, which was struck down in court. In March, Trump said he no longer intended to ban TikTok if re-elected.

Their answers have rarely surprised me, and I've heard the phrase, "YouTube is king," too many times to count. YouTube didn't always exude confidenceMusical.ly's 2018 TikTok rebrand launched the platform into stardom, shifting creator and audience attention away from YouTube. AdvertisementThe rise of TikTok forced YouTube to fight for eyeballs by introducing its own short-video feature, YouTube Shorts, in 2021 and developing a new team of partner managers and programs to recruit and retain talent. YouTube Shorts hosted a parking-lot-sized drive-thru activation at VidCon 2022, when TikTok was the title sponsor. With all this, it's no surprise YouTube seems to be taking a victory lap around its competitors.

FTC refers TikTok complaint to Justice Department

The TikTok logo is displayed at TikTok offices on March 12, 2024 in Culver City, California. The Federal Trade Commission said Tuesday that it's referred its complaint against TikTok and Chinese parent ByteDance to the U.S. Department of Justice. The FTC began its investigation following a 2019 settlement with Musical.ly, the predecessor to TikTok, that was related to violations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The FTC was probing to see if TikTok violated a federal law that prohibits "unfair and deceptive" business practices. TikTok didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Respondents who said they consumed news also tended to be less concerned about the accuracy of the news information they found on TikTok compared to other social apps. According to Pew's survey, 25% of X users said that getting news was a "major" reason they used the platform, and 15% of TikTok users also reported that getting news was a "major" reason for why they're on TikTok. Meanwhile, TikTok is also leaving users feeling the least "worn out" by the amount of news they see on the platform compared to the other apps. The news content that reaches TikTok users is often not from accounts run by traditional news organizations like The New York Times or the Washington Post.

According to TikTok’s own website, its subsidiaries around the world are all structured under Bytedance Ltd.Is ByteDance Chinese? At last year’s congressional hearing, Chew didn’t directly answer any questions about whether ByteDance is a Chinese company either. Ivanka Trump’s testimony comes after she was previously dismissed as a co-defendant in the New York case against former President Donald Trump, two of his adult sons and his company. On Thursday night, an appeals court denied Ivanka Trump’s request to postpone her testimony until her lawyers could make arguments before the panel that she shouldn’t be required to appear.
