LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man was charged Monday with murder for allegedly killing his wife and her parents, then stuffing dismembered body parts into a trash bag, prosecutors announced Monday. “On Nov. 7, Haskell allegedly hired four day-laborers to take away several heavy black plastic trash bags from his home in Tarzana," the statement said. ”One of the laborers opened one of the bags and allegedly observed human body parts. The investigator, Adrian Muñoz, who had worked for the department since 2018, was charged with one felony count of grand theft of property and one misdemeanor count of petty theft of property, the county district attorney’s office said on Wednesday. Mr. Muñoz, 34, would face a sentence of up to three years if he were convicted on all counts, George Gascón, the Los Angeles County district attorney, said at a news conference on Wednesday. “It’s a profound betrayal of the very essence of the role and the solemn duty owed to both the deceased and their bereaved families,” Mr. Gascón said in a statement on Wednesday.

CNN —The body of “Friends” star Matthew Perry is now with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office and an autopsy is pending, according to online records from that agency. No foul play is suspected, a law enforcement source told CNN, however, the incident remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey told CNN a 911 call came in Saturday at 4:07 p.m. for a water rescue emergency. Perry, 54, was found unresponsive in his hot tub, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement sources. July 13 (Reuters) - Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley, died of a small bowel obstruction as a delayed consequence of bariatric weight loss surgery, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reported on Friday, six months after she died. Presley, a singer and songwriter in her own right, had been taken to hospital after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest at her home. The medical examiner listed the cause of death as "sequelae of small bowel obstruction." "The obstruction was in the form of a strangulated small bowel caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery years ago," the examiner said in a report. She was the only child of one of the greatest stars in American music, and was 9 years old when Elvis Presley died of heart failure at age 42 in 1977 at Graceland.

Lisa Marie Presley, the singer-songwriter and only child of Elvis Presley, died in January as a result of “a small bowel obstruction” caused by scar tissue that developed after bariatric surgery years ago, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office said on Thursday. Ms. Presley had been complaining on Jan. 12 of severe abdominal pain, according to an autopsy report released on Thursday by the medical examiner’s office. Ms. Presley, 54, was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where she went into cardiac arrest and died that afternoon. CNN —The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined singer Aaron Carter died from drowning and the effects alprazolam and difluoroethane, according to a summary published on the coroner’s website Tuesday. Alprazolam is the generic form of Xanax, while difluoroethane is found in refrigerants and aerosol sprays. Carter died on November 5 of last year at the age of 34. Also known for his roles on television shows, Carter appeared in “Lizzie McGuire” on the Disney Channel and “7th Heaven,” which debuted on The WB Television Network. Entertainment Television, “House of Carters.”Carter is survived by his 1-year-old son, Prince, whom he shared with his partner Melanie Martin.

The officers along with a registered nurse face counts of involuntary manslaughter and assault in the death of 38-year-old Edward Bronstein in Burbank, California, prosecutors said. "These officers had a legal duty to Mr. Bronstein," Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said on Wednesday during a news conference. The death of Bronstein, who was white, came less than two months before the death of George Floyd, a Black man who was pinned to the ground in Minneapolis by police officers as he pleaded, "I can't breathe." In the California traffic stop, two of the officers who were charged had pulled Bronstein over on Interstate 5 for suspected driving under the influence. While pinned, Bronstein repeatedly screamed, "I can't breathe," and begged for help before becoming unresponsive, the prosecutor said.

LOS ANGELES — "Will & Grace" actor Leslie Jordan, who was found without a pulse after a car crash in Hollywood last year, died of sudden cardiac dysfunction, officials said Thursday. Jordan, 67, experienced sudden heart failure due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the Los Angeles County medical examiner said. Jordan's agent, David Shaul, had previously said that Jordan had likely suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his car. "The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan,” Shaul said in October. During the pandemic, Jordan's fan base grew as he delivered daily Instagram videos that offered comedic reflections on life during a lockdown.

Certain drugs were detected from prior use through a urine and blood test but were determined to be inactive at the time of the accident, the coroner report states. “Cannabinoids were detected in the urine” but not in the blood test, which “is consistent with prior use but not at the time of injury,” the report states.
