In April, President Joe Biden signed a law that requires China’s ByteDance to sell TikTok by Jan. 19. Although both Republicans and Democrats supported the Biden TikTok ban in April, Trump voiced opposition to the ban during his candidacy. After winning in Washington, the first game of a daunting second-half schedule, do the Pittsburgh Steelers belong in the Super Bowl conversation? Setting aside how they compare to the rest of the NFL in 2024, how do you feel this year’s edition compares to the Chiefs teams of the past two seasons? Good teams, remember, almost always get fortuitous bounces and kind calls. This Chiefs team is more balanced and more well-rounded. Bad Bunny is recognized globally for establishing reggaeton as a mainstream music genre and exporting Puerto Rican culture to the world. But now the organization is turning its attention (and its rats’ noses) to the global illegal wildlife trade. “Unfortunately, organized crime knows there’s a real weak spot in detection methods of ports, seaports and airports, particularly in Africa.”Traffickers disguise wildlife products in a whole host of ways, he explains. This is particularly important given that much of the illicit wildlife trade comes from some of the world’s poorest regions. “I’m hopeful that (using rats) for detecting wildlife will be a low cost, low impact, low footprint operation,” says Allan. The illegal wildlife trade not only impacts populations of the trafficked animal or plant, it can have devastating knock-on consequences for whole ecosystems.

EV supporters point to dozens of new EV and battery plants announced in Michigan in the last two years. Political strategists told Business Insider that the anti-EV messaging was drowning out positive ones in Michigan, putting Democrats on the defensive in a critical battleground. "We've run some advertising trying to make the massive surge of new EV manufacturing at jobs in Michigan famous, because nobody knows about them," Murphy said. But that analysis didn't account for jobs created by new EV and battery manufacturing plants popping up across the country. Democrats are hitting back on Republicans' EV attacks, arguing that the US has to build its own domestic EV manufacturing base to compete with China.

This is the story of how the marathon has changed, told by some of the people behind the technological revolution. Marathon running is done individually but succeeds best when athletes work in packs, either with official pacemakers or using each other to share workloads and draft. They put one into a marathon shoe in a 2006 study, got sub-elite athletes to run on treadmills, and found a 1.3 per cent benefit in terms of energy reduction. “We set up at that point (2016), one of the most in-depth and best controlled studies on running shoes. Yet despite the atrocious conditions, the fixture went ahead as planned, and after 90 minutes of less-than-inspiring football, England had beaten Czechoslovakia 1-0 at Wembley Stadium. Americans can bet on the outcome of US elections following a legal fight. Last month, Kalshi briefly listed bets on congressional election outcomes before the CFTC shut them down. On Wednesday, prediction market Kalshi got the go-ahead to take bets on congressional elections after a months-long legal battle with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. That makes it one of the only options for Americans to bet on election outcomes, and the only legal one for Americans to wager large amounts of money. The court's decision comes just five weeks before the elections, and follows years of legal battles between prediction markets and the CFTC.

It’s also here, on an unassuming downtown street, a small start-up called Energy Singularity is working on something extraordinary: nuclear fusion energy. Nuclear fusion, the process that powers the sun and other stars, is painstakingly finicky to replicate on Earth. London CNN —Is it a prelude to a wider attack or the totality of the message to Hezbollah? The risk of widespread war with Israel again has become a pressing reality since the October 7 attacks. It places Hezbollah, however, in another unenviable moment of frailty – plunged into chaos, with great pressure upon them to project strength again. Hezbollah will still be able to inflict significant damage upon Israel if a full-scale battle erupts. But Israel may have decided too cleanly that Hezbollah seeks to avoid war, and therefore can be goaded repeatedly.

Read previewOffices have been the weak spot in the commercial real estate market since the pandemic gave rise to widespread remote work and caused companies to reassess how much space they need. The Federal Reserve's likely interest rate cut, expected at the end of its meeting on September 18, could give office owners some relief with lower interest rates when they refinance. But that doesn't mean they're in the clear, according to commercial real estate experts. Right now, most commercial real estate loans come from small, regional banks, but that could change. AdvertisementYet even with the weakness in the office market, lower interest rates are a net positive for the industry, economist Richard McGahey says.

Former President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday blasted Vice President Kamala Harris as radically liberal and blamed her for what he called the Biden administration’s “disastrous” policies, repurposing attacks he had long leveled at President Biden now that Ms. Harris is poised to be his opponent in November. Speaking in Charlotte, N.C., at his first campaign rally since President Biden dropped out of the race and Ms. Harris cleared the field of potential Democratic rivals, Mr. Trump called Ms. Harris “the ultraliberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe.”Mr. Trump repeatedly mispronounced Ms. Harris’s name, called her a “radical-left lunatic” and tagged her with the nickname “Lyin’ Kamala.” He denounced her for casting a tiebreaking vote on legislation that he said had caused inflation and said she had embarrassed herself by trying and failing to deter Russia from invading Ukraine.
