CNN —The United States flew a B-1B bomber over the Korean Peninsula on Wednesday in the first live munitions drop over South Korea in seven years as part of joint air exercises between the two countries, the US and South Korea said Wednesday. As part of the exercise, the US B-1B Lancer and two South Korean F-15K Eagles dropped precision 500-pound JDAMs (joint direct attack munitions), simultaneously striking multiple targets, the US said. The American bomber then flew with advanced South Korean F-35A and KF-16 fighter jets, as well as US fighters and tankers. “This training showcases the incredible capabilities of our combined forces to simultaneously strike multiple targets in a contested environment,” said Lt. Gen. David Iverson, US Force Korea deputy commander and Seventh Air Force commander. The joint training on Wednesday marked the first time the B-1B has conducted “a live munitions drop” on the Korean Peninsula since 2017 to demonstrate its capability to “precisely strike deep target,” South Korea’s defense ministry said.

One of the nation’s premier medical advisory organizations has weighed in on long Covid with a 265-page report that recognizes the seriousness and persistence of the condition for millions of Americans. More than four years since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, long Covid continues to damage many people’s ability to function, according to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, a nongovernmental institution that advises federal agencies on science and medicine. “Long Covid can impact people across the life span, from children to older adults, as well as across sex, gender, racial, ethnic and other demographic groups,” it said, concluding that “long Covid is associated with a wide range of new or worsening health conditions and encompasses more than 200 symptoms involving nearly every organ system.”Here are some of the National Academies’ findings, drafted by a committee of 14 doctors and researchers:How many people have long Covid? The report cited data from 2022 suggesting that nearly 18 million adults and nearly a million children in the United States have had long Covid at some point. About three-quarters (74%) of Gen X reported financial trauma, compared to 71% of millennials, 63% of boomers and 64% of Generation Z. CNN —Fans of Halsey have expressed their support after the singer took to social media saying “I’m lucky to be alive.”The “Without Me” star, who prefers the pronouns she/they, updated followers on Tuesday with an Instagram post saying: “long story short, i’m Lucky to be alive. out now.”The message was accompanied by a series of short video clips, the first of which showed Halsey sitting down and continuously rubbing their legs. “I told myself I’m going to give myself two more years to be sick. Another video showed Halsey hooked up to some kind of infusion, wearing a mask and saying “treatment day one.” Other shots showed them crying, wearing a headscarf and being on a drip. At that time, she posted a series of videos, saying “I’m allergic to literally everything.”In 2019, Halsey revealed she was living with bipolar disorder, having been diagnosed when she was 17.
