LONDON CNN —A London judge has dismissed Donald Trump’s lawsuit against retired British spy Christopher Steele over his controversial 2016 dossier that contained unverified and salacious allegations about Trump’s ties to Russia. A judge from the London High Court dismissed the data privacy lawsuit against Steele and his company, Orbis Business Intelligence, according to local reports. Those uncorroborated claims first emerged in the so-called Steele dossier, which Steele secretly compiled on behalf of Trump’s political opponents in 2016, and became public after a media leak in early 2017. The memos claimed Trump conspired with the Kremlin to win in 2016 and that Russia had compromising information on him. Judge Karen Steyn said Thursday that Trump’s case lacked merit and should be thrown out.

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) - Norwegian robotics firm AutoStore (AUTO.OL) said on Thursday it will appeal a London high court judgement in March which dismissed its patent infringement claims against British online supermarket and technology group Ocado (OCDO.L). Ocado, like AutoStore, licences its technology to retailers around the world and uses it for its British grocery delivery service. He issued his formal order on Thursday, but allowed AutoStore to appeal. "We can confirm AutoStore has today been granted permission to appeal the High Court decision in March 2023 regarding our UK case against Ocado for patent infringement and we will now pursue that appeal," an AutoStore spokesperson said. Judge Hacon also ordered AutoStore to pay Ocado 6.7 million pounds ($8.5 million) in costs in relation to the high court trial.

Depp plays the king in the movie, which will have its world premiere at Cannes on May 16. BHP denies liability and in December applied to join Vale to the case. Simon Salzedo, representing Vale, argued that BHP has no case against Vale and that, if it did, any lawsuit should be brought in Brazil. Reparation and compensation programs implemented by the Renova Foundation funded $6 billion in financial aid by the end of 2022, BHP added. BHP has applied to the Supreme Court to end the case without trial following the Court of Appeal's decision last year.

LONDON, March 8 (Reuters) - Indian businessman Prateek Gupta, whom commodity trader Trafigura has accused of "systematic fraud" regarding nickel shipments, is living in the sought-after Palm Jumeirah area of Dubai, London court documents said. A London High Court judge agreed to impose a $625 million freezing order on assets controlled by Gupta and companies linked to him, which included a villa in Palm Jumeirah, the freezing order document said. A spokesperson for Gupta has said he plans to challenge the freezing order. Palm Jumeirah is a man-made island shaped like a palm and regarded as one of the most sought-after areas of Dubai. "Trafigura does not know whether Mr Gupta is the beneficial owner of this property," said an affidavit by Joseph O'Keeffe, a lawyer representing Trafigura.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC) and its unit Aabar Investments PJS have agreed to pay $1.8 billion to settle a legal dispute over the scandal at Malaysian state fund 1MDB, Malaysia's finance ministry said on Monday. Malaysia in 2018 had filed a challenge in a London court against a settlement agreement between 1MDB and IPIC that had been negotiated a year earlier during the premiership of former leader Najib Razak. Najib was sentenced to 12 years in jail last year after being found guilty in a 1MDB-related corruption case. In its challenge, Malaysia had argued that the 2017 settlement was procured by fraud. Malaysia's 1MDB is the subject of corruption and money-laundering investigations in at least six countries.
