CNN —Thousands of people gathered in Hostages Square in Tel Aviv on Saturday to commemorate the 20th birthday of Naama Levy, who has been held captive for 260 days. At Hostages Square on Saturday, Levy’s parents Ayelet Levy Shachar and Yoni Levy addressed the crowd. People hold signs and balloons, as family, friends, and supporters of Israeli hostage Naama Levy, who was kidnapped during the deadly October 7 attack, attend a protest march on her 20th birthday in Tel Aviv on June 22, 2024. Many waved Israeli flags and held up signs with images of the Israeli hostages. Other protesters were heard shouting, ” Elections now.”“There is nothing more important, every hostage must return!” protesters in Jerusalem chanted.

CNN —Families of seven female Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas during the October 7 attacks have released graphic footage of their abduction as they pile pressure on the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure their release. The video shows the women — all Israel Defense Forces (IDF) personnel — lined up against a wall, their hands bound. The footage was previously released by Hamas, according to the Hostages Families Forum. The campaigning group obtained it from the IDF, which had previously edited the video to exclude the most disturbing scenes. Efforts to reach a deal that would pause the war in Gaza and allow the release of hostages have repeatedly been dashed.

"You can't go around not seeing that footage somewhere because they kept showing it in a loop," said her mother, Ayelet Levy Shachar, occasionally fighting back tears. "I try to keep my thoughts on her coming back and how she comes back to me," said Levy Shachar, who said she talks to her daughter continuously in her mind, imagining her situation, perhaps held in one of the web of tunnels built by Hamas that run beneath Gaza. "Look at the films that are out there," said Levy Shachar, referring to the footage of the attack that floods social media. Only four hostages have so far been released while another one was rescued by Israeli troops. Levy Shachar said she occasionally attends rallies to call for the hostages to be brought back but mostly she just thinks of her daughter.
