I took my family, including two kids and a dog, on ferries to get from Vermont to the Hamptons. Whether we drive or ride boats, it's a pretty long trip, but the ferry has other benefits. download the app Email address Sign up By clicking “Sign Up”, you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy . AdvertisementMy family — me, my husband, our 8- and 3-year-old daughters, and our wire-haired dog, who's 14 years young — recently took a trip to the Hamptons. We could've driven down from our home in Vermont through high-traffic New York City and then out to Long Island via the Long Island Expressway and Montauk Highway.

I took my two kids on the Amtrak for the first time to get from Albany to New York City. We faced significant delays on the train, but I'd choose the Amtrak over driving in the future. AdvertisementMy husband and I recently traveled with our two kids from Albany to New York City to visit family. I tried Texas de Brazil, an upscale Brazilian steak house , for a date night with my husband. I thought the $55 flat-rate meal was worth it, and I'd like to go back. AdvertisementTexas de Brazil is a Brazilian steak-house chain across the US as well as parts of Latin America and Asia. The chain is known for its $55, flat-rate dining experience with all-you-can-eat meats and sides. After wanting to try the upscale chain for years, my husband and I finally went for dinner.

On a recent trip, I was able to assemble an entire meal out of the sides there, so I wanted to see if that was possible at IHOP, too. I ordered one of each side dish available on the menu, which was a little different than what I found online. I also ordered a slice of ham, but it got lost in the mix and never arrived. There were so many sides on the table that I didn’t even notice until we were done with our meal. Here's how the 10 side dishes I tried ranked from worst to best.
In the name of research, I tried all seven premium sides available at my local Cracker Barrel. Although I liked most of the "loaded" options, the loaded sweet potato was my favorite. My least favorite, the loaded baked potato, was still delicious, it just wasn't quite as fun. Cracker Barrel's list of premium sides changes from time to time. I ordered one of each of the premium sides available: loaded baked potato, loaded baked sweet potato, bacon mac and cheese, hash-brown casserole tots, loaded hash-brown casserole, loaded mashed potatoes, and pancakes.
