But this year, Edinburg — home to the University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley — didn't maintain its first-place position. The city is home to a number of colleges, including Texas Southmost College and Our Lady of the Lake University at Rio Grande Valley. Brownsville is located at the most southern tip of Texas, about four and a half hours south of San Antonio.
