The response team arrived on-site overnight where they discovered two deceased individuals. An area closure around Red Deer and Panther valleys has been implemented and will remain in place until further notice, Parks Canada said. Banff National Park, which attracts more than four million tourists every year, is home to both grizzly and black bears.

Feb 8 (Reuters) - Italian Elena Fanchini, who won the downhill silver medal at the 2005 Alpine skiing world championships, has died aged 37, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) said on Wednesday. Fanchini, who took part in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, was forced to withdraw from the 2018 PyeongChang Games after being diagnosed with cancer. "At the end of a serious illness, Elena Fanchini passed away at her home in Solato (near Brescia)," FISI said in a statement. Fanchini also participated in six World Championships and made four World Cup podiums, all in downhill, including two victories in Lake Louise, Canada in 2005 and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy in 2015. I tried to see the famous green comet in the night skies, far from the city, last weekend. The moon outshined most of the stars, and I couldn't locate the faint comet, even with binoculars. I've heard (and written) a lot of hype about this comet, called C/2022 E3 (ZTF), or Comet ZTF for short. Morgan McFall-JohnsenIf I had spotted the green comet, there's no way I would've been able to capture it on my iPhone X. Who knows, maybe I looked right at the green comet and didn't recognize it because it was too faint.

Dec 3 (Reuters) - Norway's Aleksander Aamodt Kilde overcame flu-like symptoms to defeat rival Marco Odermatt and claim his second straight World Cup victory in the downhill at Beaver Creek on Saturday. Kilde, 30, also topped the podium at Lake Louise last weekend and now has eight World Cup titles to his name. "I caught the flu in Lake Louise after a nice weekend. "And also there are a lot of contenders at the start and it is never easy to win races." Odermatt, who won the Super-G in Lake Louise last week and is favoured to do so again on Sunday, is still searching for his first World Cup win in downhill.
