Xi is spending two days in France, meeting French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday before heading to Serbia and Hungary. "I'm calling for an 'aggiornamento' because China is now in excess capacity in many areas and exports massively to Europe," Macron told La Tribune Dimanche, per a Bloomberg translation. She said China's trade practices are leading to unfair trade that are "market-distorting" and "could lead to deindustrialization in Europe." China has pushed back on the West's claims of overcapacity, accusing the bloc of being protectionist and of trying to curb China's economic development. However, Europe — like China — isn't quite the same anymore, following years of economic malaise punctuated by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

[1/2] A model of Europe's next-generation space rocket Ariane 6 is pictured at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Lampoldshausen near Heilbronn, Germany, February 26, 2019. France, where manufacturer ArianeGroup is based, wants extra funding to help absorb cost overruns, industry sources said. Sources said last week there had been some progress in unblocking a three-way standoff between Europe's leading launch nations but that ministers still faced sensitive budget talks. Speaking ahead of the Seville meeting, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher declined to comment on the talks but urged Europe not to repeat past mistakes in the technology sector. Europe has carved out a leading role in climate observation, navigation and space science but has not targeted a prime role in human exploration, opting instead for a junior role in projects led by U.S. space agency NASA or until recently Russia.

REUTERS/Yves Herman/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSummary Interview done on Oct 2, published on Oct 8Lagarde: confident over ECB's 2% inflation targetLagarde relatively confident over Europe's gas situationPARIS, Oct 8 (Reuters) - European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said in an interview published on Sunday that she was confident the ECB would meet its target of getting inflation back down to 2%, and relatively confident over Europe's gas reserves situation. Lagarde added the fact that inflation was "currently falling significantly" was one of several reason as to why she was not pessimistic regarding the short-term economic outlook. She added that other reasons for this were economic reforms underway in Europe, and because Europe's gas reserves situation was better than before. And, just one year ago, who would have thought that we would succeed in replenishing more than 90% of our gas reserves by September 2023?," said Lagarde. "This allows us to look towards the coming winter, if not calmly, then at least with a lot more confidence," she added.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly considering a large number of French-made Dassault Rafale fighter jets. In July, Germany announced it would not allow additional Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to be delivered Saudi Arabia. The Saudi air force's 72 Eurofighters are its second most numerous fighter type behind its US-made F-15s. Bandar Algaloud/ReutersIn the near-term, Saudi Arabia may find Rafales more burdensome than beneficial, given its extensive investment in US and British aircraft. PARIS, June 27 (Reuters) - A sizeable chunk of Renault's (RENA.PA) planned electric vehicle spinoff could remain in free float on the stock market, its CEO said in an interview published on Tuesday, declining comment on any further strategic investor who would join partners Qualcomm and Nissan (7201.T). "We need to leave some free float, because we still want to retain a significant majority ourselves", Luca De Meo told business daily La Tribune. "Porsche has left 10% free float, and I think that we are aiming for a higher percentage, a minority, but sufficient to ensure liquidity", he added, referring to the luxury carmaker's $72 billion stockmarket debut last year, the biggest in Germany since 1996. Sources have said Renault's future electric vehicle unit, Ampere, could be valued at up to 10 billion euros ($10.96 billion). PARIS, March 9 (Reuters) - Dassault Aviation (AM.PA) highlighted negotiations for new Rafale fighter export orders and hit back at European critics of business jets as it posted higher profits on Thursday. It booked new orders worth 21 billion euros, including 92 Rafales and 64 Falcons. It delivered 46 jets including 32 Falcons in 2022, down from 55 including 30 Falcons in 2021. He said Dassault remained in talks to provide 26 carrier-borne Rafales to the Indian navy, in competition with Boeing's (BA.N) F/A-18 Super Hornet. One year's use of the global fleet of Falcon business jets is equivalent to 24 hours of global video streaming or five hours of worldwide truck traffic, he said.

Ultima sesiune plenară care a avut loc la Strasbourg a fost cea din 10-13 februarie 2020.
