The allegations provide a window into the scale and force of this Israeli operation to free hostages taken during the attack on Israel last October. The UN human rights office (OHCHR) warned that Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups may have committed war crimes through their actions. CNNMohammad told CNN that before the Israeli forces withdrew, they threatened to shoot his relatives, after which he heard gunshots. “I called the ambulance, but they said they cannot come because the area is dangerous,” Mohammad told CNN. Palestinians inspect the damage a day after Israeli forces launched an operation to rescue four hostages, in Nuseirat, central Gaza, on June 9.

CNN —The Almighty won’t be standing on stage alongside Joe Biden on Thursday night. Biden’s campaign laid the groundwork for the Atlanta showdown hosted by CNN in a weekend memo. If Trump rants and vents his 2020 election lies on Thursday, he will play into Biden’s hands. That could avoid the mayhem of the first Trump v. Biden debate in 2020. His campaign has spent days trying to roll back his expectations of Biden as a doddering, elderly president who can’t string two words together.

One fund has a formula that has enabled it to consistently beat the S & P 500 : the Hennessy Cornerstone Growth Fund. The fund uses a formula-based strategy for investing, according to its portfolio managers Neil Hennessy, Ryan Kelley, and Joshua Wein. "We're trying to combine value with momentum and some growth," Kelley said. Stocks the fund owns Most of the stocks in the outperforming fund aren't actually in tech but in the industrials, consumer, financials and health-care sectors — because of the formula they use. It is the only name which survived in the recent rebalancing to the current batch of 50 stocks, said Wein.

Antelopes, hundreds of thousands of them, are crossing the savannas of South Sudan. But a report published today estimates that South Sudan is home to the largest known migration of land mammals on Earth. South Sudan, a country in central Africa, has a varied landscape, from rainforests to lush savannas and swamplands fed by the Nile River (pictured). Marcus Westberg He suspects that the migration’s survival and growth is likely to be linked to the decades of war South Sudan has suffered. Read previewThe hiring process seems to have become increasingly complex in recent years, with job seekers facing new tests, more interviews, and months of waiting to hear back from prospective employers. Job seekers have been taking to social media to complain about jumping through various hiring hoops just to secure an entry-level job. He said that in recent years, the hiring process has slowed down as the number of interview rounds has increased: "It reflects a lack of understanding by employers about what they're actually looking for." Advertisement"Many interviews and job assessments now take place online, which means candidates need to adapt to virtual interactions and later demonstrate their skills remotely," she said. When job interviews started to be done on Zoom and managers had fewer opportunities to evaluate candidates, more employers began using cognitive and psychometric assessments as part of their hiring process.

Stock futures hovered near the flatline Tuesday evening after the S&P 500 rebounded from a rough start to the week. S&P 500 futures hovered pulled back 0.03, while Nasdaq 100 futures hovered near the flatline. In Tuesday's regular trading, both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended three days of declines, buoyed by a bounce in Nvidia shares. The artificial intelligence darling's market cap gives it tremendous sway over the S&P 500, and its 154% surge in 2024 has raised concerns over a lack of breadth in this year's rally. "We look for the market to broaden out, but it's not necessarily a binary choice between megacaps and smaller caps, but more bias going forward to looking at these other companies in the S&P 500."

At large events all over the world, the scenes of extreme heat stress are starting to look familiar. And lines of the faithful — whether they seek religion, music, ballot boxes or sport — sweating under slivers of shade. And in many ways, that heavy toll was just the latest sign that crowd control and heat waves fueled by climate change are on a dangerous collision course. During India’s recent election, dozens of poll workers died on the job. Even as heat kills more people today than any other extreme weather event, there is still a dangerous cultural lag.

Americans' workplace retirement account balances are growing — but they're still lower than what people say they need to be on track for retirement, new data reveals. The median account balance in the U.S. is now $35,286, according to Vanguard's annual How America Saves report, which tracked the performance of 401(k)s and similar plans in 2023. Some of the lower balance totals have to do with age, too: People often make and save less money earlier in their careers. "People tend to accelerate retirement contributions as they get older because they tend to earn more, but also because they're getting closer to retirement age," says Michelle Gessner, a certified financial planner in Houston. Compound interest is interest that's continually earned on both the principal amount and any accumulated interest, leading to exponential growth over time.

Amine Mati, an assistant director at the IMF and its mission chief for Saudi Arabia, told The FT that Saudi authorities were "recalibrating" to assess whether some spending should be delayed. In public, Saudi has largely been keen to insist that the megaprojects, especially Neom, are on track. Experts previously told BI that Saudi Arabia was struggling to attract the foreign investment needed for the development. Representatives for Neom did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider, made outside normal working hours.
