French startup Vizcab has secured a fresh $4.9 million in its Series A extension. Vizcab's AI-driven platform helps calculate the Life Cycle Assessment of construction projects. Vizcab, which launched in 2015, has developed a software platform that calculates the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of construction projects to reduce their carbon impact. Finnish software company One Click LCA, which aims to make construction more sustainable, has raised 40 million euros, $43 million, in its first external funding round after it was bootstrapped for the past 22 years. One Click LCA helps them measure, report, and reduce emissions of their products and projects. It embeds emissions data into every decision, suggests changes to reduce environmental impact and improve circularity, and allows users to model changes. One Click LCA puts this number at 57% based on its aggregation of existing data and its own calculations. "That's not possible to do after you have commissioned the design," Pasanen said.

The agreement includes the potential joint production of GE Aerospace's F414 engines in India and the engines will be used to power Tejas fighter jets, GE said. Reuters reported in May the Biden administration was poised to sign off on a deal that would allow GE to produce jet engines powering Indian military aircraft. GE first began working with Hindustan Aeronautics and the Aeronautical Development Agency in 1986 to support the development of India's light combat aircraft with F404 engines.

The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint against the leading chain of laser vision-correction procedures in the U.S., alleging it lured customers with bait-and-switch advertising that tricked them into believing they could pay less than $300 for LASIK surgery, while actually charging many times that amount to most patients. The vision-correction firm, LCA-Vision Inc., agreed to modify its practices and pay $1.25 million to settle the FTC’s administrative complaint, without admitting or denying the allegations. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Indian government last year gave a $6 billion contract to state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HIAE.NS) for 83 of the locally produced Tejas jets for delivery starting around 2023 - four decades after it was first approved in 1983. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, keen to reduce India's reliance on foreign defence equipment, has also been making diplomatic efforts to export the jets.
