Politico did not publish an article saying the deaths of 20 million Ukrainians were needed to win Russia’s war on the country, as suggested in a misleading image shared widely online.
Krstic said the text in the image does not align with Politico’s style guide, adding that there were grammar and punctuation errors.
The article is not viewable when conducting a search via Politico’s website (archive.is/wip/7xpfo), nor in an online search (archive.is/wip/QZiRV).
The archived versions of Politico’s research tab, where the supposed article is featured in the fabricated screenshot, do not show the headline (here), (here).
The report cannot be seen when searching through Politico’s social media accounts (archive.is/wip/1yoMu).
