CNN —Nicholas Galitzine and Leo Woodall have more in common than they thought. I auditioned for ‘White Lotus!’” Galitzine said, laughing. Woodall played Jack in Season 2 of “The White Lotus” in 2022, a bad boy who charms Haley Lu Richardson’s character Portia until his nefarious intentions are later revealed in the show’s shocking finale. “It comes out of nowhere,” Galitzine said of the scene, going on to joke that he “obviously” knew about the scene since he’d auditioned for Woodall’s role. But, Galitzine said while playfully poking at Woodall, “you got the part instead of me.”

StarzIt's remarkable that Galitzine has effectively built his career playing a number of commercial gay roles when it used to be true that "playing gay" could destroy an actor's career. On the flip side, there's a certain amount of discomfort with Galitzine, who has said he identifies as straight, playing queer roles. But it's clear he'll still keep playing roles across the spectrum of sexuality.

Lawyers for the Authors Guild said in court filings that the datasets likely contained "more than 100,000 published books" and are central to its allegations that OpenAI used copyrighted materials to train AI models. CNN —Lesbian Visibility Week, celebrated each year at the end of April, was first observed in California in 1990 and is marked around the world and in lesbian living rooms across America — including mine. Many laws have criminalized gay men but not women, leaving us in slightly safer territory. Gay men are also more likely to be victims of hate crimes and violence. Gay men might be criminalized, but gay women have long been targeted, sometimes in heinous ways that fly under the radar of the law, and which go unprosecuted. On this Lesbian Visibility Week, I am grateful both to be seen and to slip quietly under the radar, unnoticed.

In a video promoting the Bible, Trump said, “Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country. … we need to bring them back.”On Good Friday, Trump posted a very different kind of video. It showed an image of President Joe Biden lying sideways and tied up in the bed of a pickup truck. “Robert F. The presumptive Republican nominee for president of the United States, who weeks ago started selling shoes, is now peddling Bibles. For example, according to a promotional website, it’s the only Bible endorsed by Donald Trump. This God Bless the USA Bible, as it’s officially named, focuses on God’s blessing of one particular people. Whether this Bible is an example of Christian nationalism I will leave to others. It is at least an example of Christian syncretism, a linking of certain myths about American exceptionalism and the Christian faith.

He says things like the “God Bless America” Bible overlook the many, many Christians who do not agree with Trump’s politics or the blending of patriotism with faith. He was among the imprint’s writers who tried to discourage them from publishing the “God Bless the USA” Bible when the idea was first introduced. “I am reminded of how we closed every Marine Corps boot camp chapel service with Lee Greenwood’s ‘God Bless the USA’,” he told CNN. The FAQ section of the “God Bless America” Bible website clarifies that no proceeds from the sales of the Bible will go towards Trump’s presidential campaign. CNN has reached out to EliteSource Pro, the marketing company behind the “God Bless the USA” Bible, for more information.

‘Treason,’ the Musical Where the Fans Came First
  + stars: | 2023-11-02 | by ( Holly Williams | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +1 min
The catchy, folk-tinged numbers from “Treason the Musical” have been streamed online over a million times, in 96 countries. Its fans — known as “Plotters” — have been listening to an EP, an acoustic record and a live album of the songs, as well as sharing their own performances on TikTok. Unlike “Beetlejuice,” “Heathers” or “Dear Evan Hansen,” which all parlayed onstage popularity into huge digital followings, “Treason” is turning the formula for musical success around. Its producers cultivated an online fandom for three years before raising the curtain on the show, and are now banking on those fans buying theater tickets, too. “Treason” is currently on a 27-show tour of Britain that culminates in two performances at London’s largest theater, the 2,286-seater Palladium, on Nov. 21-22.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump delivers remarks after exiting the courtroom as he attends his Manhattan courthouse trial in a civil fraud case in New York, U.S., October 18, 2023. Future violations by Trump could be punished by steeper fines and possible imprisonment, Justice Arthur Engoron said in an order. Engoron said in the order that a social media post by Trump attacking the judge's clerk - which was deleted from the former president's Truth Social platform - had remained visible on his campaign website two weeks after he had ordered it taken down. Trump at times has appeared in person at the ongoing trial, attacking James and Engoron in inflammatory remarks to reporters outside of the courtroom. Trump, who has sought to portray the case as intended to hurt him politically, has denied wrongdoing and defended his asset valuations.

Judge Arthur Engoron in his bombshell decision also canceled the New York business certificates of Trump, the Trump Organization, and the other defendants, including two of his sons, in a lawsuit by the state Attorney General's Office. The defendants in the case include Trump, his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, company executive Jeff McConney, and Trump Organization entities. Engoron also ordered sanctions of $7,500 for five attorneys who represented the Trump defendants for making frivolous and previously rejected arguments in court filings. In the fourth criminal case, Trump is charged with falsifying business records related to a 2016 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. Even after Engoron appointed an independent financial monitor for the Trump Organization last year, "defendants have continued to disseminate false and misleading information while conducting business," the judge wrote.

In 26 days, Trump, his sons, and his real-estate empire are scheduled in a civil fraud trial in New York. On Wednesday, a judge rejected Trump's bid to delay the trial as "completely without merit." The decision follows legal filings in which New York's attorney general seeks to fine Trump and his co-defendants $10,000 each for trying to delay the trial through "frivolous conduct." A Manhattan judge's handwritten response to Donald Trump's latest bid to delay his October 2, 2023, civil business-fraud trial. His decisions on the attorney general's request for $10,000 sanctions, and for at least a partial trial victory, are pending.

CNN —Researchers at the University of Dundee have recreated the face of Bonnie Prince Charlie as he appeared when leading the unsuccessful 18th century Jacobite rebellion as he sought to reclaim the British throne for his father. In the image, Bonnie Prince Charlie appears with blonde curly hair, wide eyes and acne on his skin, revealing a different side to the more conventionally heroic figure he has traditionally been depicted as. I did want to show a different angle with that.”The image was created using death masks of the prince, which were photographed and mapped. Using state-of-the-art software, 3D models were then produced, allowing researchers to “de-age” the prince, the university added. A portrait of Bonnie Prince Charlie painted in 1738 by Louis Gabriel Blanchet, is on display at the National Portrait Gallery in London,.

Appalachia is a region and a mind-set. Appalachia has few large cities, our economies are land-based and, unless you live here, we’re probably not what you think. It’s “Appal-achia.” As in, “If you keep that up, I’ll throw this apple atcha.” But in fact, we won’t. We tend toward heart-blessing kindness in the way of small-town folks who rely on each other in good times and bad, and live together regardless. Weighing in at nearly three pounds, “Writing Appalachia: An Anthology,” edited by Katherine Ledford and Theresa Lloyd, is too big to pack but too wonderful to miss.
