☆ Amazon's ditching the plastic air pillows in its boxes

Amazon said Thursday it has removed 95% of the plastic air pillows from its packaging in North America and will replace them with paper fillers made from 100% recycled content. It marks Amazon's largest plastic-packaging reduction effort and will help it remove nearly 15 billion plastic pillows annually. The e-commerce company began transitioning away from plastic filler in October 2023 when it announced its first U.S. automated fulfillment center to eliminate plastic-delivery packaging. Amazon collaborated with suppliers to instead source paper fillers that are also curbside recyclable. This is not the first step that Amazon has taken to reduce its packaging waste.

☆ Apple analyst Kuo says new Apple Watch will include larger screen, thinner design

Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a blog post on Monday that the next Apple Watch will be thinner and have a larger screen. The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to be released in September when the company typically introduces its next batch of wearables and new iPhone models. Kuo said the screen sizes on the two Apple Watch models will increase from 41 millimeters to 44 millimeters and from 45 millimeters to 49 millimeters. The watch will include components manufactured using 3D printing technology starting in the second half of the year, Kuo added. Kuo also cited the potential for the technology to be used in the production of Apple Watch cases.

Broadcom shares rose about 12% on Thursday after the company posted second fiscal quarter earnings that beat analysts' estimates and showed that it's benefiting from the artificial intelligence boom. Broadcom reported earnings per share of $10.96 ahead of LSEG consensus estimates of $10.84 per share. Analysts see Broadcom as a beneficiary of increasing investments in AI. Bank of America analysts reiterated a buy rating and said they consider Broadcom a top AI pick because it is positioned to grow in custom AI chips and Ethernet networking. They also said Broadcom can upsell VMware to enterprise customers deploying AI.

The company said the vehicles do not currently comply with federal vehicle safety standards related to gauges and telltale icons in the cluster display. Preregistration has opened for Zynga's new "Game of Thrones"-themed mobile game, the company announced Monday. Zynga, a wholly owned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive , released a trailer and opened preregistration on the App Store and Google Play for their new mobile puzzle role-playing game "Game of Thrones: Legends." The game was licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO to incorporate content and characters from "Game of Thrones" and its prequel series "House of Dragons." Zynga Executive Vice President Yaron Leyvand said the game "combines skill-based play with the unrivaled depth and lore of the 'Game of Thrones' universe." Players can build teams, go on missions and face off with "Game of Thrones" enemies.
