Progressive activist and independent presidential candidate Cornel West received a maximum campaign donation from Republican megadonor Harlan Crow, West's latest fundraising report shows. Crow made the $3,300 donation in August, weeks before West abandoned his bid for the Green Party nomination to run as an independent. Almost 15% of registered voters said they would vote for a third party or independent candidate when given the explicit choice in an NBC News poll last month. By comparison, less than 2% of voters in 2020 cast a ballot for a candidate other than Biden or Trump. Federal election filings show real estate developer Crow gave to Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie in the last quarter, as well as to GOP members of the Senate and House.

Former President Donald Trump will skip the third Republican debate, once again snubbing his rivals as he holds a commanding lead in the polls for the GOP nomination. “He isn’t going,” Chris LaCivita, a Trump campaign senior adviser, confirmed to NBC News on Thursday. The next debate will be held in Miami on Nov. 8, a short drive from Trump’s Florida residence. Republican hopefuls debated without Trump for a second time on Wednesday night, with several candidates stepping up their attacks on the former president. Trump told the Daily Caller in an interview published Thursday that he would not attend the third debate and indicated Republicans should rally around him, declaring there is “not going to be a breakout candidate.”

The mugshot seen around the world has given Donald Trump his largest single-day fundraising paycheck yet, according to his campaign. The campaign also reported that he raised $4.18 million on Friday, marking the single-highest 24-hour period of the campaign to date. Less than two hours after the mugshot was taken, Trump’s online campaign store began selling t-shirts with his instantly viral mugshot emblazoned on the front. His official campaign store is currently selling a series of mugshot-related merchandise items, including mugs, Koozies as well as signed mugshot posters. “Organic money has skyrocketed, especially after President Trump tweeted out the picture along with the website,” Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump's campaign, told NBC News.
