Over three days they killed hundreds of men and teenage boys in a Darfur refugee camp, according to witnesses, local human-rights groups and international aid agencies. Cheap, second-hand, and purloined weapons comprised Hamas’ deadly makeshift arsenal that fueled a devastating, multi-pronged attack on Israel over the weekend. JERICHO, West Bank, March 14 (Reuters) - Before a group of young men from Aqabat Jabr refugee camp mounted a botched attack on a restaurant in Jericho popular with Israeli settlers in January, they declared allegiance to Hamas. Often with just a handful of fighters, the militant groups springing up across the West Bank over the past year have only loose ties to factions such as Hamas, Fatah or Islamic Jihad. Contracts with the Russian defense ministry boosted sales despite Western sanctions. The arms-maker that makes the AK-47 and is officially called JSC Kalashnikov Concern boosted production last year by 40% in comparison with 2021 to hit a 20-year high. According to its website, Kalashnikov accounts for 95% of Russia's production of machine guns, sniper rifles, pistols and other handheld firearms.
