AS SCIENCE fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke famously said, any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. No wonder your tech-savvy co-workers often seem like wizards. You know the ones I’m talking about: those unflappable souls who can instantly find the file, email or thread that will prove them right in a dispute, while barely breaking eye contact with anyone who might challenge them.

THE EXPRESSION “hitting the sack” gets slightly more literal in the great outdoors. If you’re a couple, though, you’re likely hitting separate sleeping sacks—unless you buy a double sleeping bag, wide enough to fit two people inside its nylon sheets. If you’ve ever tried to wriggle, worm-like, to snuggle up with your significant other while in the backcountry, only to be blocked by thick layers of insulated material, you might understand the appeal. Double sleeping bags should in theory work well for outdoorsy couples who want to make sleeping in the woods feel more like sleeping at home. That said, such intimate designs aren’t ideal for duos who disagree on ideal sleep temperature and position.

THE TWO-BODY PROBLEM Proponents of double sleeping bags like this one from REI ($329) say they let them snuggle up with their beloveds. SANDS OF DISCONTENT Knowing how much time you spend on Instagram or Twitter can leave some people stoked to cut back. Apple weekly Screen Time report says you racked up more hours than usual on your phone. Apple says it launched Screen Time in 2019 to help people forge a better relationship with their devices. Your phone tracks how much time you spend tapping away, further divided by how much time you used other specific apps and sites. And each Sunday morning, by default, you receive a push-notification pointing you to a detailed report of what you did with your phone over the last week.

That’s never ever going to happen, though, so it’s a good thing I use a moka pot. Specifically, the Cuisinox Roma stainless steel stovetop moka pot, a superior choice that I wish I’d found sooner. Moka pots are easy to use. The Cuisinox Roma is also dishwasher-safe, unlike aluminum moka pots, and induction-compatible. I’ve had my Cuisinox Roma for six years and counting, and no issues so far.
