Sportivul a reușit să ridice 537,5 kilograme și câștigat concursul "World's Strongest Man", desfășurat în Statele Unite ale Americii. Tot la aceeași competiție, Novikov a ținut în fiecare mână o greutate de 160 de kilograme, timp de 41 de secunde. Islandezul a declarat că nu va mai participa la competiții pentru că "este deja cel mai puternic om din lume".
