Nick Fuentes, a far-right commentator, is set to return to X.Elon Musk bought X in 2022, promoting free speech absolutism. The Anti-Defamation League describes Fuentes as a white supremacist , anti-semite , and 2020 election-denier "who seeks to forge a white nationalist alternative to the mainstream GOP." When Elon Musk bought X for $44 billion in October 2022, he set out to defend free speech absolutism on the platform. Nick Fuentes' flirting with hate-speech has meant he has had a rocky relationship with X and Twitter before it. Business Insider's Katherine Tangalakis-Lippert reported that despite Musk identifying as a "free speech absolutist," the same embrace of free speech does not extend to his critics.

To understand the state of men in this country, it’s necessary to know three things. First, millions of men are falling behind women academically and suffering from a lack of meaning and purpose. Second, there is no consensus whatsoever on whether there’s a problem, much less how to respond and pull millions of men back from the brink. Third, many men are filling the void themselves by turning to gurus to guide their lives. They’re turning to Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and a host of others — including Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson — to show them the way.

I know DEI is a positive because I see its impact on bottom lines. Cuban told BI. Advertisement"You may not agree, but I take it as a given that there are people of various races, ethnicities, orientation, etc that are regularly excluded from hiring consideration," Cuban told Musk in January. In March, Cuban told podcaster Lex Fridman that "it's fun to engage" with Musk on diversity initiatives. "When we start talking about DEI and that it's de facto racist — this stuff that I just think is nonsense — I have no problem sharing my opinion," Cuban told Fridman.

As recently as 2019, less than one-third of young men said that they faced discrimination, according to Pew, but today, close to half of young men believe they face at least some discrimination. There was not a single issue that young men cared about significantly more than young women. There was not a single issue that young men cared about significantly more than young women. Most young men are probably not interested in making America great again, but they do feel acutely the need to secure a place for themselves in a culture that readily identifies male advantage but ignores the challenges young men face. And this attitude has real-world consequences: In the online gaming world, 75% of Gen Z women have reported experiencing harassment .

Opinion | The Reactionary Futurism of Marc Andreessen

I think the Republican Party’s collapse into incoherence reflects the fact that much of the modern right is reactionary, not conservative. It’s a coalition obsessed with where we went wrong: the weakness, the political correctness, the liberalism, the trigger warnings, the smug elites. The Silicon Valley cohort Andreessen belongs to has added a bit to this formula. Rather, it’s the pairing of the reactionary’s sodden take on modern society with the futurist’s starry imagining of the bright tomorrow. So call it what it is: reactionary futurism.

On Wednesday, GOP Rep. Mike Johnson became the newest speaker of the House. Now, with new Speaker Mike Johnson at the helm, the party may grapple for some time with how opposite Johnson is from his predecessor. Johnson's sudden rise to becoming speaker comes just over a year before the 2024 election where the Republican Party is aiming to regain control. Neither prediction ultimately came true: Republicans only gained a very slim majority of the House and managed to lose footing in the Senate. Less than two years later, it's now Johnson's responsibility to make sure the Republican Party remains in power.

Instead, I managed to entangle myself in an argument about a different totalitarianism-related question: whether the destruction of Hitler’s Germany was a true and righteous judgment of Almighty God. The style of far-right thought involved in both stories takes Western decadence as a given, while arguing that Christianity is a weak vessel for any kind of cultural revival. Its big idea is that a conservatism that looks to classical and pagan sources, and embraces some kind of racial identitarianism could be more, well, vital in its engagement with the times. The decay and decadence of Western Christianity makes the return of right-wing Nietzscheanism inevitable. But Christians can say with some warrant that God’s judgment on that project is evident already.

New York CNN —YouTube said on Monday that it had removed a video of presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. being interviewed by podcast host Jordan Peterson for violating its policy prohibiting vaccine misinformation. YouTube began cracking down broadly on vaccine misinformation in 2021, following an earlier policy preventing false or misleading claims about Covid-19. Under its policy, YouTube removes false claims about currently administered vaccines that the World Health Organization and local authorities have approved and confirmed to be safe. Although YouTube removed the video, it remains available on Twitter, showing the fractured approach to vaccine misinformation across the internet as his campaign gets underway. Hotez had tweeted in support of a Vice article criticizing Spotify’s handling of vaccine misinformation in an interview with Kennedy on Rogan’s show.

Twitter"The Lex Fridman Podcast" offered a rare opportunity to listen to four-hour conversations with luminaries of tech and science. Bhaskar Sunkara, the founder and publisher of the socialist magazine Jacobin who appeared on Fridman's podcast in December, praised Fridman's interviewing style.
The internet is freaking out over clips generated by AI text-to-video generator ModelScope. The AI-generated videos come after a recent AI-generated picture of the Pope when viral. The videos were made using ModelScope Text to Video Synthesis, a free AI video generator that AI firm Hugging Face released to the public last week. That may be because the Modelscope tool is trained on images scraped from stock photo sites, according to Vice. AI image generators have also been found to produce images that reflect racial and gender stereotypes, and can spread misinformation.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett discussed his efforts to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia. But Bennett has clarified that no such deal existed — and said talks broke down because of apparent Russian war crimes. "Bombshell: Former Israeli prime minister says that Western leaders blocked #Ukraine & #Russia peace deal," Ivan Katchanovski, a Canadian political science professor, wrote on Twitter. At the time, Zelenskyy himself noted that the Israeli prime minister was "trying to find a way of holding talks," a fact for which "we are grateful." In the interview, Bennett himself notes that it was not the US, France, or Germany that put an end to any peace talks.
Elon Musk's Twitter has reinstated the account of white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Fuentes is known for making antisemitic remarks and has praised Hitler, calling him "cool." Fuentes has also praised Hitler in a video repeating that he is "cool" and "awesome." In a December interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Ye — who was joined by Fuentes — praised Hitler and made a number of overtly antisemitic remarks. Musk suspended Ye's Twitter account after the interview over repeated antisemitism saying: "I tried my best.
The Campaign to Re-Educate Jordan Peterson

You would think Canadians had learned by now not to tell Jordan Peterson what to say. The psychology professor became an internet sensation in 2016 after arguing that Canadian legislation amounted to “compelled speech” on gender pronouns. Now the College of Psychologists of Ontario is demanding that Mr. Peterson acknowledge he “lacked professionalism” in public statements and undergo a “coaching program” of remedial education. Maybe the new commissars missed Mr. Peterson’s videos praising Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, the man who said: “Live not by lies.” Mr. Peterson won’t comply, and he says he’ll now face a disciplinary committee that could revoke his license to practice.
Prominent left-wing Twitter accounts have been banned after false reports, The Intercept reported. Far-right activists have launched a campaign to report left-wing accounts for false violations, it reported. Right-wing activists coordinated a campaign to mass report left-wing Twitter users for fake violations to get their accounts suspended — Loder's account was mentioned on a list of accounts to report. Far-right users like journalist Andy Ngo on Twitter urged Musk to address the "large number of Antifa accounts" operating on Twitter. Loder told Intercept that his account was suspended just 90 minutes after Musk responded to Ngo on Twitter.
Twitter staff are skeptical about Elon Musk's plans to reinstate banned accounts, Platformer reported. Twitter is working to reinstate 75 with more than 1 million followers, Platformer reported. But staff at Twitter say the plans could cause them a big headache. Twitter staff are working to reinstate tens of thousands of suspended accounts, Platformer reported. This includes around 62,000 accounts with more than 10,000 followers, one of which has more than 5 million followers and 75 of which have more than 1 million followers, the outlet reported.
Musk posted a picture of his "bedside table" on Monday morning with guns and Diet Coke cans. The billionaire CEO captioned the picture "My bedside table," which featured a series of unusual objects including two guns, four empty cans of caffeine-free diet Diet Coke, and a recreation of the Emanuel Leutze's painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River. It is unclear if Musk actually took the picture himself, or if it is actually his bedside table. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns," Musk told CNBC in an email. Musk said his offices only have caffeine-free Diet Coke now.
CNN —Sunday officially marks one month since the world’s richest man took the helm at Twitter. After spending months embroiled in an unsuccessful legal battle to get out of his initial proposal to buy Twitter, Musk made his first splashy entrance into the company’s offices on Oct. 26, carrying a sink. (In a video of the incident shared on Twitter, he wrote: “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!) In another dramatic move by the new boss, Musk publicly fired a software engineer who had survived the initial round of cuts, but who then questioned Musk on Twitter. Musk goes onto to grant ‘amnesty’ to most previously banned accountsAfter conducting yet another Twitter poll, Musk said on Nov. 24 that he will begin restoring most previously banned accounts on Twitter starting next week.
On Thursday, Twitter owner Elon Musk said he will reinstate nearly all banned accounts. The move comes after Musk conducted a poll on Twitter that garnered more than 3 million votes. On Thursday, Musk tweeted that he would grant "amnesty" to all suspended Twitter accounts that haven't broken the law or "engaged in egregious spam." The move comes as Musk continues to loosen the platform's grip on enforcement around posts with hate speech since buying Twitter for $44 billion last month. Before taking control of the social media company, Musk criticized the platform for "failing to adhere to free speech principles."
Elon Musk's son X Æ a-Xii was present during Twitter meetings after the purchase went through, WaPo reported. Two-year-old X Æ a-Xii, Musk's first child with Grimes, ran round while he met with Yoel Roth, per WaPo. The Post reported that toys were scattered round the room and X Æ a-Xii ran around. X Æ a-Xii may have been at Twitter's HQ to attend the office Halloween party that day, where some staff brought their children. X Æ a-Xii, who he had with his musician and ex-partner Grimes, was Musk's seventh child.
