MTV’s Video Music Awards are back to celebrate the best music videos of the year, and, if you can believe it, the network has now been at it for 40 years. After all, it was the 1984 MTV VMAs when Madonna wore her iconic wedding dress and performed “Like a Virgin” to open the show. And who could forget when Ye, then known as Kanye West, stole the microphone from Taylor Swift in 2009? But the big question of the evening will be whether Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are in attendance. If Swift wins three of her awards, she could overtake Beyoncé for the distinction of having won the most MTV VMAs ever.

New York CNN —A career in music isn’t in Ben Affleck’s future, but at least his go-to drink at his favorite coffee chain — Dunkin’ — is getting easier to order. The “DunKings Menu” includes Affleck’s favorite iced coffee, a drink that includes cream, a sweet cold foam topping and a dusting of cinnamon sugar. The recent Dunkin’ ad also starred Affleck’s buddy Matt Damon and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who are also deeply associated with Boston where Dunkin’ got its start. The DunKings can “find solace in their setback with the anticipation of finally earning a spot on the Dunkin’ menu,” the chain said in the release. Dunkin' is adding the "DunKings" menu, based off Ben Affleck's favorites, for a limited time.

Dunkin' DonutsDunkin' Donuts staked an early claim, surprising viewers with a Super Bowl ad featuring Ben Affleck in a brief stint as a Dunkin' employee. T-MobileT-Mobile opted for a more low-key approach, recruiting movie star Bradley Cooper and his mother to pitch viewers on the benefits of the mobile carrier. At least, that's what the plan was when Cooper was signed to do the commercial, the ad says. DoritosDoritos has become one of the most notable Super Bowl advertisers in recent years, and the chip brand continued its run, calling on music star Jack Harlow for most of its triangle-themed ad. [1/3] Musician Ozzy Osbourne takes part in a Super Bowl ad for Workday, in this undated handout photo provided by Workday. Big-name celebrities are not uncommon in Super Bowl ads. A 30-second Super Bowl spot this year sold for a little over $7 million, according to a person familiar with the ad sales. “Advertisers want people talking about their brand, and not just during the 30 to 60 seconds of (Super Bowl) air time,” Rucker said. Some stars will poke fun at themselves or their careers in Super Bowl ads.
Turns out it’s the same sample, a sleight of ear designed to trigger warm nostalgia, and also maybe a little confusion. Even its video is optimized for recognition, with Santana doing the same stomp Beyoncé does in hers, in an almost identical outfit. Throughout 2022, that gambit has been deployed again and again — by pop singers and rappers, established stars and newbies. Here, old songs — hip-hop classics, pop novelties and more — are scrunched and stretched sometimes to the point of absurdity. These songs are concessions that say the quiet part out loud — everyone has always been borrowing voraciously, from everyone else, constantly.
CNN —Maybe the year of the rabbit came early – Bad Bunny was Spotify’s most-streamed artist worldwide in 2022, his third year in a row. The Puerto Rican superstar once again dominated Spotify Wrapped, the streaming service’s yearly roundup of the artists and songs its users spent the year listening to. Bad Bunny was already a star, but this year proved to be a blockbuster for the “Moscow Mule” singer. His smash-hit album “Un Verano Sin Ti,” which has since been nominated for album of the year at the upcoming Grammys, was also Spotify’s most-streamed album worldwide this year. Harry Styles, pictured performing during the 2022 Coachella festival, is featured on this year's Spotify Wrapped.

The list will be updated with winners in bold throughout the broadcast, along with the winners from non-televised categories.
Dave Chappelle, hosting NBC's "Saturday Night Live" for the third time, kicked off the show with a roughly 15-minute monologue that tackled hip-hop artist Ye's antisemitic comments, the midterm elections and former President Donald Trump's political appeal. Chappelle mocked Ye as well as Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, who posted a link to an antisemitic movie on Twitter. "I've been to Hollywood, and this is just what I saw: It's a lot of Jews, like a lot," Chappelle said to laughter. In recent years, Chappelle has attracted intense scrutiny for his public comments about transgender people, particularly after Netflix released his most recent stand-up special, "The Closer." Four days later, Chappelle was physically attacked onstage at the Hollywood Bowl, charged and tackled by a man carrying a replica gun.
New startup Ultimate Playlist offers daily cash prizes to users who listen to and rate new songs. Ultimate Playlist, which launches on Monday, is a way for artists to know that they will reach listeners. "One key component of Ultimate Playlist is that it isn't anchored by superstars." "As a songwriter, I like the idea of a listener listening to more than 15 seconds of a song," Smith said. Here's the nine-page pitch deck that the Ultimate Playlist used to raise its first funds.
The VIP suite hosted by Dancing Seahorse offered a good but not spectacular view of the stage. It was perhaps no coincidence, then, that Dancing Seahorse's suite drew a pretty crypto-curious crowd.

A few hours after the news broke, Brandy posted an update about her health on her Instagram story. “To my beloved fam, friends, and starz thank you for sending love and light my way,” the statement said. Earlier this year, Brandy channeled the late legendary singer during the NFC championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

Bad Bunny performs during his World's Hottest Tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, U.S., September 30, 2022. Bad Bunny received a total of eight AMA nominations and will compete for artist of the year against British singers Adele and Harry Styles and Canadian musician The Weeknd. Bad Bunny's other nods included favorite male pop artist, favorite music video and favorite touring artist. If Bad Bunny wins all eight awards he is eligible for, he would tie 1980s superstars Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most AMA wins in a single year. In country music categories, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen are among the nominees for favorite male country artist.

Beyoncé, Drake and Taylor Swift each earned six nominations, while Adele, Harry Styles and The Weeknd came in with five a piece. And elsewhere, Elton John made history for what the show called being “the longest-recognized artists” in the show’s history. The show also boasted about the addition of a new category dedicated to the K-Pop genre, favorite K-Pop artist. The American Music Awards will air Sunday, November 20 at 8 p.m.
