REUTERS/Vincent Kessler/File PhotoGeneral Electric (GE.N) and France's Safran (SAF.PA) on Monday set out plans to develop a new jet engine able to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by 20% as they announced a 10-year extension to their CFM International joint-venture to 2050. The CFM RISE engine, a future successor to the LEAP model used on the Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A320neo, will feature a design with visible fan blades known as open-rotor and could enter service by the mid-2030s, they said in a statement. The series is about motherhood, the sacrifices Black women make and the challenges of trying to be your full self while parenting another human being. The movie "Blindspotting" was a dynamic and necessary commentary on race, police brutality and manhood. While Estrada's film starts with a bang, the TV series takes a few episodes to find its footing. The constant tension (and screaming matches) between Ashley and Trish are especially jarring, since the origin of their disdain for one another is given short shrift. Yet, as aggravating as the ongoing feud between Ashley and Trish is to viewers, their frustrations with life feel very real.

A faster-than-expected recovery in domestic air travel is helping Boeing Co. find new homes for unclaimed 737 MAX jets whose buyers walked away or collapsed during the pandemic. The Covid-19 vaccine-fueled travel rebound in the U.S. and some other parts of the world has left the Chicago-based plane maker with around 10 stored MAX aircraft needing buyers, people familiar with the matter said. While many business travelers have yet to return and lucrative international routes are still on pause, domestic air travel has been on an upswing in recent months, U.S. airline executives say. Flights in the U.S. are 84% full, on average, amid a surge of summer travel. Carriers have responded by adding flights, making plans to bring back idled crew and hiring new pilots and flight attendants.

REUTERS/Johanna Geron/File PhotoLONDON (Reuters) - Supersonic jets do not have a place in the future, Willie Walsh, the former boss of British Airways, said, adding that he would not buy them if he still ran an airline as he dismissed a plan by United Airlines to bring them back. Supersonic passenger travel died out with the retirement of Concorde in 2003, but United said earlier in June it agreed to buy 15 ultra-fast jets from Boom Supersonic. “We’ll watch with interest but no, I wouldn’t be buying it,” Walsh told an airlines conference on Thursday. “I’m not convinced that supersonic transport is the right move going forward.”Walsh, who is now director general of global airlines body IATA, took the helm at BA a year before Concorde was grounded.

Russia's Su-57 is one of only four operational 5th-generation fighters in the world. Russia's Su-57 is widely seen as the least stealthy of the 5th-generation entrants, but there's more to a fighter jet than radar cross-sections. Real development on the modern fighter program began once again in earnest in 2002, with America's F-22 set squarely in the program's sights. Instead, they're just trying to make the Su-57 a sneaky and capable fighter with bombing capabilities … and in that regard, they seem to be succeeding. The Su-57 may not lead the pack in the realm of stealth fighters, but it doesn't need to in order to pose a threat.

Boris Johnson has flown around 400 kilometres to Cornwall from London for the G7 summit, where he will discuss "tackling climate change" with world leaders. A planespotter saw an identical jet to one used by the Prime Minister making a test flight to Newquay Airport from London. Boris Johnson flew to the G7 Summit in Cornwall by jet on Wednesday, creating greenhouse gas emissions over five times greater than the equivalent train journey, according to the government's own emission figures. "The Prime Minister should not have flown to Cornwall when he could have taken the train," Pollard said. Later this year, the UK will be hosting the COP26 Climate Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.

New York (CNN Business) Boeing is seeking a one-year delay in its deadline to deliver two new 747 jets to be used as Air Force One . The request for a delay was disclosed Tuesday by Darlene Costello, the acting assistant secretary of the Air Force, at a House subcommittee hearing. She cautioned that the Air Force has not yet agreed to the delay and is looking to set a new delivery timetable. When the Air Force announced the $3.9 billion contract in 2018, it characterized that as a "savings of $1.4 billion." Boeing and the Air Force refer to the air craft themselves as VC-25B.

Boeing Co. has estimated the new Air Force One jets it is building may arrive a year late and cost taxpayers more than planned, a top Pentagon official said. The aerospace giant has proposed handing over the two new presidential jets by the end of 2025, a year later than planned, acting Assistant Air Force Secretary Darlene Costello said on Tuesday during testimony before a House panel. Boeing struck a $3.9 billion deal to replace the aging 747s, which are known as Air Force One when the commander-in-chief is on board, with then-President Donald Trump in 2018. An Air Force spokesman said Boeing hasn’t formally requested additional funding. Ms. Costello said Boeing has told the Air Force it intended to submit such a request.

Airbus delivered 50 jets in May, Lufthansa rejigs A350 orders

Slideshow ( 2 images )PARIS (Reuters) - Airbus delivered 50 airplanes in May, bringing its total so far this year to 220 jets, up 38% from the same period last year, the European planemaker said on Monday. Airbus also confirmed an order of five A350 wide-bodied jets from Germany’s Lufthansa, announced by the airline last month. But Airbus data released on Monday showed that the German airline had also simultaneously cancelled three previous A350 orders, resulting in a net addition of two A350 jets. An Airbus spokesman confirmed the mixture of cancellations and orders. Boeing has been wrestling with 787 production difficulties, while both planemakers face a slump in demand for wide-bodied long-haul jets exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.
