The White House request to provide the Pentagon with an additional $10.6 billion to equip Israel includes systems with substantial U.S. content, which might help ease its passage through Congress.
Israel’s Rafael makes the David’s Sling missile-defense system in partnership with U.S. defense giant RTX, which says its work is spread across around 30 states.
The two companies also cooperate on the shorter range Iron Dome defense system and are considering a U.S. production facility for the missile interceptors.
The proposed funds would also advance Rafael’s Iron Beam platform, which uses lasers to down missiles and drones.
It hopes to have that system operational in 2025 and is working with Lockheed Martin on a U.S. version.
