MEXICO CITY (AP) — For filmmaker Issa López, the first question was where? “The moment I understood it was the Arctic, everything started falling into place,” the director of “True Detective: Night Country” told reporters in Mexico City ahead of Sunday's premiere on HBO and HBO Max. The Mexican director was looking for a region of the United States that had a totally different physical feel from the previous three “True Detective” installments, which were set in Louisiana, Los Angeles and Arkansas, respectively. Both seek to shed light on the disappearance of eight scientists from an isolated research station, and also face the unsolved murder of an Inuit woman who was an environmental activist and midwife. În prezent, China reprezintă aproximativ 70% din exploatarea metalelor rare la nivel global și între 85% și 90% din prelucrarea acestora. Cel mai mare depozit cunoscut al UE de metale rare se află aproape de al doilea cel mai mare lac al Suediei, într-un cătun numit Norra Kärr. Asta înseamnă că Copenhaga ar trebui să aibă un cuvânt de spus în aprovizionarea cu metale rare a Uniunii Europene, făcând Groenlanda un partener comercial mai stabil decât China. În 2013, guvernul din Groenlanda a schimbat din nou cursul și, după un vot, a afirmat că extracția de uraniu s-ar putea relua, o mișcare care a revigorat proiectul Kvanefjeld.

Inuit Ataqatigiit se opune deschis exploatării zăcământului de uraniu şi metale, intenţionând să stopeze proiectul aflat la originea desfăşurării anticipate a alegerilor legislative. „Mulţumim populaţiei care ne-a acordat încredere pentru a lucra având în centru nevoile oamenilor în următorii patru ani”, a declarat liderul IA, Mute Egede, la televiziunea groenlandeză KNR după anunţarea rezultatelor. Potrivit proiecţiilor, IA va avea 12 mandate din cele ale parlamentului local Inatsisartut, iar Siumut 10. Liderul Siumut, Erk Jansen, a felicitat IA pentru victorie, recunoscând că acesta a devenit 'cel mai mare partid' şi poate revendica postul de prim-ministru. Egede, în vârstă de 34 de ani, deputat din 2015, a preluat conducerea IA în urmă cu doi ani.
