Almost exactly 250 years after the Sons of Liberty dumped chests of tea into Boston Harbour, a professor from Bryn Mawr College has committed a crime against the British cuppa very nearly as grave. Honeywell International is putting cash to work with a big acquisition in the security space. The all-cash deal is Honeywell's largest acquisition in eight years, and one that should bolster its struggling building technologies division . By acquiring Carrier's Global Access Solutions unit — which manufactures products like electronic locks, video monitoring apps and fire alarms — Honeywell is setting itself up to benefit from growing demand for safety and access solutions. "You will never see a roll back in safety and security," Jim said during an interview with Honeywell CEO Vimal Kapur on Friday. A host of new data centers, drug manufacturing plants and semiconductor fabrication plants will require digital access solutions and robust security options.

CNN —Manila accused Chinese ships of firing water cannons and making “dangerous maneuvers” toward Philippine vessels resupplying a remote military outpost on Friday, in the latest of a string of incidents between the two countries in the disputed South China Sea. The Philippines also claimed that vessels belonging to a Chinese maritime militia were involved in the harassment and that two Philippine boats were subjected to “reckless” and “dangerous” harassment by inflatable boats belonging to the Chinese coast guard. That claim is hotly disputed by China and the two countries have been involved in increasingly frequent run-ins in the highly contested waterway. The Philippine Embassy in Beijing has protested to the Chinese Foreign Ministry over the latest incident. The South China Sea is widely seen as a potential flashpoint for global conflict.

BERLIN, Nov 9 (Reuters) - U.S. electric vehicle startup Fisker (FSR.N) is negotiating with five carmakers over a partnership to secure additional production capacity for its vehicles, its Chief Executive Henrik Fisker said on Thursday. We can bring them to market fast - we just need the capacity," Fisker said, speaking to Reuters in Berlin. The CEO told Reuters in May he was exploring partnerships with everyone from suppliers to tech companies to scale up production. The SUV, called PEAR, will be built with Foxconn in Ohio, but further capacity is needed for both models. Still, it cut its annual production target in August and adjusted pricing in October as it grappled with a slowdown in electric-vehicle demand.

“Pesticide exposure during pregnancy may lead to an increased risk of birth defects, low birth weight, and fetal death,” the American Academy of Pediatrics stated. “Exposure in childhood has been linked to attention and learning problems, as well as cancer.”Yet pesticide exposure is widespread, even for chemicals that were banned years ago by federal agencies. In the 2023 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce — a list of nonorganic produce with the most pesticides — researchers found 210 different pesticides on the 12 foods. In addition, consumers can ask food companies to “release the actual test results of pesticide concentrations in their products,” said EWG’s Temkin. “Food companies have not been publishing such data, instead relying on generalities,” she said via email.

Biden's disapproval ratings did not surpass his approval ratings until he withdrew from Afghanistan. Similarly, Democrats have increasingly disapproved of Biden since Hamas attacked Israel. Month after month, an average of his national approval ratings stayed double digits above his disapproval ratings. That is, until the US began its process of completely withdrawing its military forces from Afghanistan, coinciding with Biden's approval ratings consistently declining in that same period of time. A recent YouGov survey offers a clue as to why Biden's approval rating amongst Democrats is falling.

HON YTD mountain Honeywell YTD Unfortunately, Honeywell hit a 52-week low in Thursday's terrible market. Moreover, guidance for the remainder of the year was mixed: Sales are expected to be better than we thought. Honeywell repurchased 5.3 million shares during the quarter, more than double the amount purchased in the second quarter. Additionally, for both the full year and the current quarter, earnings performance is being suppressed by pension liabilities. Qualitatively, continued volatility is expected but management believes they can deliver further growth, margin expansion, and cash growth "in line or above EPS growth."

China claims “indisputable sovereignty” over almost all 1.3 million square miles of the South China Sea, and most of the islands and sandbars within it, including many features that are hundreds of miles from mainland China. If they (China) close off the South China Sea, perhaps the next target may be the Straits of Malacca and then the Indian Ocean,” Teodoro said. But since taking office last year, Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr has taken a stronger stance over the South China Sea than his predecessor Rodrigo Duterte. Marcos has also strengthened US relations that had frayed under Duterte, with the two allies touting increased cooperation and joint patrols in the South China Sea in the future.
