Authorities spoke with witnesses and viewed security videos from neighboring homes and learned that a possible suspect was seen walking in the area wearing a mask of Michael Myers, the fictional murderer from the "Halloween" movie series. Two children were found unharmed in the home, the sheriff's office said. Witnesses said that someone in the Myers mask walked up to the victim while he was in his garage and started shooting, local news station KHOU reported.

A dead newborn baby girl was found in a baby drop-off box in Idaho on Oct. 13, police said this week. Upon removal, they realized the infant had been dead long before being placed in the baby box, according to a news release on Monday from Safe Haven Baby Boxes on Facebook. Safe Haven Baby Boxes provide a secure and anonymous way for parents to safely surrender their newborns. He also offered to bail out inmates "in exchange for sex from someone outside of jail" and allegedly sold women he bonded out to other buyers, Moody's office said. Authorities learned of Moncrief's scheme while investigating former defense attorney John Gillespie for committing similar crimes, the attorney general said. A Florida man has been charged after he allegedly left two improvised explosive devices in bathrooms at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. Eckley allegedly left two remote-controlled improvised explosive devices inside two male restrooms at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino on Sept. 29, FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass said in a news conference. One of the devices was found by an employee, who reported it, and the casino was eventually evacuated out of caution. The investigation found that three days prior to the discovery of the devices, a man was seen behaving “very suspiciously” at the casino on Sept. 25. The incident is still under investigation and it's not clear what motivated Eckley to leave the explosives in the casino.

Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi conceded defeat in the general election Friday, in a seismic moment of change for the country that ended the ruling party’s 58 years in power since independence from Britain in the 1960s. Masisi’s concession came before final results were announced, with his Botswana Democratic Party trailing in fourth place in the parliamentary elections in what appeared to be a humbling rejection by voters and a landslide victory for the main opposition party. The opposition Umbrella for Democratic Change held an overwhelming lead in the partial results, making its candidate, Duma Boko, the favorite to become president of a southern African country that is one of the world’s biggest producers of mined diamonds. “I concede the election,” Masisi said in an early-morning press conference two days after the vote. Although I wanted a second term, I will respectfully step aside and participate in a smooth transition process.”

CNN —Spurred by increasing global demand for air travel, aviation emissions have been rising faster than those from rail, road, or shipping in recent decades. The Natilus Horizon passenger plane aims to reduce emissions by 50%, and increase payload by 40%, due to its blended-wing body shape. Matyushev says the blended wing body design originated in the 1990s from McDonnell Douglas, a major American aerospace manufacturer that merged with Boeing in 1997. Boeing never commercialized a blended wing plane, but studied the concept and produced an unmanned prototype, the X-48. “One of the challenges with the blended wing body design is stability and control,” he explains.
