On Tuesday evening, President-elect Donald Trump said Hegseth is his pick for Defense Secretary – a decision that shocked even some of his friends at Fox. After returning home from Iraq in 2006, Hegseth wrote that more troops were urgently needed. Fox Corporation’s chief legal officer, Viet Dinh, is departing, the company announced on Friday, in a major shake-up at the company after the landmark $787.5 million settlement it paid to Dominion Voting Systems in April. Mr. Dinh, a former official in the George W. Bush White House who amassed considerable power inside Fox, will stay on through the rest of the year, Fox said. Mr. Dinh gave what some inside the company considered flawed advice during the Dominion suit, which exposed a pattern of deceptive coverage by Fox News after the 2020 election. He insisted that Fox was on firm legal footing and could take the case, if need be, all the way to the Supreme Court, where he believed the company would prevail on First Amendment grounds. Tucker Carlson took a dig at his former employer Fox News after it backpedaled on its "wannabe dictator" chyron. This week, Fox News labeled President Joe Biden a "wannabe dictator" in chyron text. The "wannabe dictator" message was on-screen for 27 seconds, the website Mediaite reported. Then the company issued a public apology for the 27-second-long 'wannabe dictator' line," Carlson said on his Twitter show. Carlson referenced her comments on his Twitter show before suggesting in a sarcastic rant that Biden is actually a "wannabe dictator."

That has left a string of unanswered questions: Why did the company not settle earlier and avoid the release of private emails and texts from executives and hosts? When Carlson hosted on April 17, he averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 445,000 in the key demo. On April 10, Carlson averaged 3.1 million total viewers and 438,000 in the key demo. And on April 3, Carlson averaged 3.2 million total viewers and 435,000 in the key demo. Carlson’s ratings dominance was why he had that 8pm perch. The numbers suggest that some of Carlson’s audience migrated over to Newsmax to sample the competitor’s showing.
