Source: Salad and GoWhen Sweetgreen went public two years ago, co-founder and CEO Jonathan Neman said the salad chain aspired to be the "McDonald's of its generation." But another salad rival could beat Sweetgreen to the punch: Salad and Go. One of its 48 ounce salads costs less than $7 and comes with chicken or tofu, while a comparable salad from Sweetgreen costs about $12. Two years later, Morrison took over as chief executive, departing Wall Street's favorite chicken wing chain after a decade in favor of a little-known salad chain that then had only 50 locations. Other salad players, such as Sweetgreen, Just Salad or Salata, are usually in the same markets as Salad and Go.

ORLANDO, Fla. — As rumors swirl over whether Saks Fifth Avenue will acquire Neiman Marcus, Neiman's CEO told CNBC there's "no need" to sell the business, adding it's unlikely to change hands in the next five years. Some people close to the companies have told CNBC a merger between the two is inevitable, and is a matter of when, not if. But Neiman's CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck said there is currently "no process to sell the company." Eventually, those owners will seek to offload the business, but van Raemdonck said it won't be any time soon. They have not yet received an offer that was large or attractive enough to move the needle, a source familiar with the matter previously told CNBC.

watch nowORLANDO, Fla. — Little is known about how much revenue Shein draws or just how profitable it is. But the fast-fashion company's sales are "a lot more" than the $30 billion it reportedly brings in annually, one of the retailer's key partners said Monday. "There's talks that they do 30 billion, do they do 40 billion? If Shein's sales are "a lot more" than $30 billion annually, its revenue would still be far smaller than that of retail giants such as Walmart and Amazon , which do hundreds of billions in sales annually. A sales total above $30 billion would mean Shein dwarfs American retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle , which most recently reported annual sales of $3.7 billion and $5 billion, respectively.

The Biden Administration announced $39 billion in automatic loan forgiveness to 804,000, according to a July 14 press release from the U.S. Department of Education. This wave of student loan forgiveness is separate from the forgiveness plan outlined in August 2022 that the Supreme Court recently struck down in June 2023. Under Secretary James Kvaal said in the statement that "millions of borrowers had earned loan forgiveness but never received it." Who qualifies for the Biden Administration's student loan forgiveness? With the Biden administration's widespread student debt relief blocked by the Supreme Court, the future of student loan forgiveness is currently on hold.

Lands' End's baby-boomer shoppers are among the most loyal of any brand, but they are aging. Sales fell when the company tried to attract millennials in 2015 with a move into party dresses and heels. In recent years Lands' End has made a concerted effort to reach oft-overlooked Gen X shoppers. Within just one year Lands' End swung from a $9.2 million profit to a $7.7 million loss and customers were abandoning the brand. "Seventy-five percent of them either never shopped at Lands' End, or are lapsed customers and haven't shopped at Lands' End for five years.
Not Lands’ End. As it looks to grow its customer base, Lands’ End is bucking the trend by purposely embracing the “forgotten generation,” Gen Xers. “It didn’t fly with our customers.”In a rush to grab the attention of younger consumers, the retailer stumbled and made fashion missteps. But the company says it knows who its core customers are. They’re Gen Xers,” he said, adding that Gen X shoppers showed the same long-term loyalty to the brand as Baby Boomers.

A year after Chinese developer Evergrande 's debt problems began rattling investors, the country's real estate troubles have only gotten worse. Some homebuyers refused to pay their mortgages due to construction delays, while property sales plunged. He expects Beijing will want to gradually resolve the problems in real estate and reduce the industry's role in the economy. Explosive growth in China's real estate industry over the last two decades minted tycoons who were not afraid of flaunting their wealth. It contrasts with an average four to five quarters for previous real estate slumps in China, the report said.
