While missing a host of brands, this year's edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show debuted a range of new models. But at least one automaker says it is ramping up its North American EV strategy in 2024: Honda Motor Company. Honda's EV moves come against the backdrop of EV pullbacks from other major auto manufacturers; and in some cases, shelved EV plans altogether. GM itself is playing a key role in the first mass-market EV Honda is introducing, the Prologue. The fuel cell systems are produced through a 50-50 joint venture between the automakers at an $85 million facility in suburban Detroit. The companies, which are marketing and selling products separately, are calling the "large-scale" production at the joint venture the first of its kind in the U.S. And now we can start to move it into these segments where before it wasn't really feasible," Charlie Freese, executive director of GM's "Hydrotec" fuel cell products, told CNBC during an event at the plant.

NEW YORK (AP) — Honda is recalling select 2023-2024 Accord and HR-V vehicles due to a missing piece in the front seat belt pretensioners, which could increase injury risks during a crash. For consumers impacted by this recall, dealers will inspect all cars and potentially replace the seat belt pretensioner assembly at no cost. The vast majority are expected to be satisfied by an inspection alone, a Honda spokesperson told The Associated Press on Saturday. For more information about the recall, consumers can visit the NHTSA website and Honda's and online recall pages. ___This story corrects references to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"It's common for there to be a recall when there haven't been any incidents yet," said Moody. For the Nov. 16 recall on damaged engines, drivers should expect to receive a notification on Jan. 2, 2024. Travel plans 'will depend on the nature of the recall'As to whether or not travel plans should be altered, the decision will depend on the nature of the recall, said McParland. "If the recall says possible transmission failure, that's a lot more risky for long-distance travel versus a glitchy navigation system," McParland said. "Usually rentals are not covered" as part of the recall repair, McParland said.

But right now, the unit's operations are shut down as regulators investigate the safety of Cruise's self-driving vehicles. Cruise had $1.7 billion in cash as of Sept. 30, enough to last nine months at the current cash burn rate. As Cruise's troubles intensified, investors on Thursday sent GM shares down more than 3% to $26.65, its lowest closing price since August 2020. In addition to the problems at Cruise, GM last month agreed to a costly new contract with the United Auto Workers, and scaled back plans to expand electric-vehicle production. California regulators suspended Cruise's license to operate, and have accused Cruise officials of misrepresenting information about the incident.

Márquez will leave his current team at the end of this season of Grand Prix motorcycle racing (MotoGP). At Gresini Ducati, a satellite team of the flagship Ducati Lenovo factory team, Márquez will be riding what is currently the most dominant bike on the grid.
