The number of Republican women running for the House this cycle dropped about 36% from 2022, while the number running for Senate dropped by about 45%, according to data from the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers. “With fewer competitive seats up for grabs, fewer candidates in both parties are running overall, but there is still very strong interest and enthusiasm from Republican women recruits,” Danielle Barrow, executive director of Winning for Women, which works to elect GOP women, said in a statement. That began to change after the 2018 midterms – the huge success enjoyed by Democratic women that year inspired more Republican women to run in 2020. Another possible reason why there may be fewer women running is what Dittmar calls toxicity. Quality over quantityThe decline in the number of candidates running, however, doesn’t necessarily mean there will be fewer women coming to Congress next year.

An FDIC supervisor invited his staff to a strip club, according to a report from WSJ. The Journal interviewed over 100 current and former FDIC staff about the agency's culture. The Journal's report details instances where a supervisor invited staff to a strip club and male workers sent their female colleagues unsolicited nude pictures. In 2020, the organization's inspector general criticized the FDIC's investigations into sexual harassment, calling them "decentralized, untimely, incomplete, and inaccurate," the Journal reported. The FDIC demoted Nguyen after multiple workers told management that the supervisor had allegedly made homophobic and harassing comments to staff.

STOCKHOLM, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Austria striker Marko Arnautovic notched two second-half goals as his side comfortably beat Sweden 3-1 in their Group F qualifier at the Friends Arena on Tuesday, dealing a serious blow to the hosts' hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024. Belgium, who thrashed Estonia 5-0 in Brussels, top the group on 13 points after five games, ahead of Austria on goal difference. The Swedes are third on six points with Azerbaijan fourth on one point along with bottom side Estonia. Austria made it two three minutes later when a clearance by Sweden defender Isak Hien only went as far as Marcel Sabitzer and he played a first-time ball to Arnautovic, who swivelled and calmly fired home. Sweden coach Janne Andersson made a flurry of late changes and substitute Emil Holm pulled a late goal back but Austria easily held on and moved a step closer to qualification.
