The climate crisis ends up touching on all of those issues, as CNN’s chief climate correspondent Bill Weir told me. Removing politics from climate changeWOLF: It’s interesting to hear you say that about Texas, because the governor and the Republican-dominated legislature there would seemingly be opposed to doing anything specifically because of climate change. Joe Biden has tried to make the argument that addressing climate change should be an economic boom. It seems clear that we’re going to burst through the 2-degree tipping point that had been previously suggested as the tipping point for climate change. What that means for marine ecosystems and coral reefs, which are the cradles of life in the oceans, and what it means for the power of storms as we head into hurricane season has scientists really, really worried.

Catapulting off an aircraft carrier is a sharp, jarring experience even more intense than the landing, and I recently experienced this firsthand in a US Navy C-2 Greyhound. Yu told BI she spent 50 years traveling to every country in the world. Yu said she worked two jobs at a hospital and was a part-time travel agent to afford her trips. And in November, Yu visited Serbia, completing her five-decade-long mission of visiting every country in the world. And although it took Yu a long time to complete visiting every UN member state, she said the journey was well worth it. How long will your dog live? Measure its nose

CNN —Is your dog a small male with a long nose? If so, your furry companion is more likely to be at your side for a long time, according to new research. Small and medium dogs with pronounced schnozes lived over 12 years on average, while flat-faced dogs of all sizes fell short of that mark. The study includes millions of data points, but it doesn’t necessarily represent the full spectrum of companion dog life, McMillan said. “The ethical and welfare concerns surrounding dog breeding have become one of the most important issues — if not the most important issue — within canine welfare,” McMillan said.

Just ask Ethan Hawke, who ended up traveling on a Greyhound bus to theToronto International Film Festival (TIFF) after flights were canceled. The actor told People that he had to pivot in order to make it to the premiere of his new film, “Wildcat.”“Three flights canceled, then I was like, ‘I’m not gonna miss this because of some airport,’” he said. “So, I went to port authority and hopped the bus.”It sounds like Hawke, who made the trek with his wife and producing partner, spent his travel time well. “I just read my book and disappeared in the back and prayed that we made it,” Hawke added that no one really noticed him until they made it to customs. As for how his fellow passengers responded to having a celebrity on board, Hawke quipped, “Man, nobody cares about anybody else on the bus.”

“How do I find the subway to Flushing?” I asked a young man rushing past me in the terminal. He picked up my light blue suitcase and led me to the subway platform while I carried the matching light blue makeup case. That first subway ride was punctuated by a whooshing sound noisy enough that other riders began to glance in my direction. I realized it was coming from the makeup case on my lap. What could I do on a subway car with an inert can emitting a stream of sticky lacquer on its own?

New York CNN —Hundreds of thousands of US airline customers were stranded this week as severe weather grounded planes and led to canceled flights. As of 8:30 am ET, FlightAware tracking service reported there were 687 flights canceled and another 1,200 delays. Although that’s better than the 2,200 canceled flights in each of the last two days, or the more than 16,000 delayed flights between Monday and Tuesday, it’s hardly a smooth-running operation. Staffing shortageThe US air travel system is unable to recover quickly from widespread weather problems, because it doesn’t have the bodies to deal with the disruptions. The airline canceled 461 flights this past Saturday and Sunday and delayed another 1,972 flights, according to data from flight tracking site FlightAware.

U.S. corporate finance house Evercore (EVR.N) is advising Flix on the process, the sources said. Flix, set up in 2011 by three entrepreneurs in Munich to try to make bus travel cheap, runs bus and train services across 40 countries. Tom Hanks sounded off in an interview on the plethora of entertainment options available today. He suggested that going to a movie in theaters is a worthwhile compromise. Actor Tom Hanks vented a bit about exactly that in a podcast interview with The New Yorker, offering up some highly relatable observations. Great, you pick up the remote and it takes you forever to agree on what you're going to watch on Apple or Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime. Hanks, who currently stars in Netflix's "A Man Called Otto," has a history of being outspoken about the industry's move toward streaming.

Dozens of passengers were left stranded in a Sacramento bus station after highways closed this week. Although Sacramento was not under a state of emergency this week, winter weather and closed freeways still left travelers stranded at the Greyhound station. According to Bowers, stranded travelers were better off sheltering in place. He told KCRA the city worked with the Red Cross to provide necessities like blankets to the passengers at the station. One traveler at the station told KCRA that being stranded was miserable, but the city was accommodating under the circumstances.

EL PASO, Texas — The nation began readying for an arctic storm that could plunge temperatures around the country, but on the southern border many migrants say they didn't know they were in for colder, nastier weather. Random El Paso residents also brought by food and clothes to migrants. Ruben García, director of Annunciation House, which provides shelter for migrants, said the focus needs to be on “hospitality capacity” in El Paso and elsewhere. “It’s very important for people to understand this is not an El Paso need, this is a borderwide need,” he said. Andrés González, Guad Venegas and Julia Ainsley reported from El Paso, Texas and Suzanne Gamboa reported from San Antonio.
