Japanese companies established Thailand’s auto industry virtually from scratch, dating back to the years after World War II. By the late 1970s, Japanese brands commanded around 90 percent of car sales in Thailand. Now Japanese automakers’ stronghold is finally being loosened by Chinese manufacturers that offer something they don’t: electric vehicles at affordable prices. The influx of Chinese brands like BYD, Great Wall Motor and SAIC Motor in the past two years is ringing alarms in Japan. In December, Srettha Thavisin, Thailand’s prime minister, traveled to Japan with a message for Japanese companies: Move quickly, invest in electric vehicles or lose out to China.

Morgan Stanley has resumed coverage of Hong Kong-listed Geely with an overweight rating on expectations the Chinese automaker can weather macro and industry uncertainties. "We see Geely as a beneficiary of market consolidation," Morgan Stanley Asia equity analyst Tim Hsiao and a team said in a June 25 report that resumed coverage of the stock. Hangzhou-based Geely entered China's auto industry in 1997 and is known for acquiring Volvo in 2010. But the company raised the share of its new energy vehicles to 32% so far this year, higher than peers such as Great Wall Motor, for which the share is 23%, the Morgan Stanley analysts pointed out on Tuesday. The Supernatural VR app combined beautiful surroundings with full-body workoutsI worked out while wearing my Meta Quest 3 VR headset. The app's music library set it apart from the other VR workout apps I've tried, many of which didn't have recognizable songs. Many of the workout apps I tried tapped into my competitive drive by creating a video-game-like environment. The next time I feel unmotivated to work out, I might try a VR exercise app.

CNN —Ancient DNA recovered from the remains of a sixth century Chinese emperor who ruled during the country’s dark ages has shed some light on what the leader may have looked like. Emperor Wu ruled China as part of the Northern Zhou dynasty from 560 to 580 and is credited with unifying the northern part of ancient China during a particularly chaotic period. “Our analysis shows Emperor Wu had typical East or Northeast Asian facial characteristics.”The authors said they hoped ancient DNA might shed light on Wu’s cause of death. The genetic analysis showed that Emperor Wu intermarried with ethnically Han Chinese, China’s dominant ethnic group today. “It’s interesting to see the genetic study, but none of the findings of this genetic study are surprising at all,” Miller said.

Here are the Chinese stocks that analysts are turning bullish on: Tencent Music Entertainment — Citi upgraded the stock to buy on Wednesday with a price target of $13 a share, up nearly 18% from Tuesday's close. Analysts are also finding more reasons to turn incrementally optimistic about other Chinese stocks.
