CNN —Nearly half of Ukrainians held in Russian detention centers in Kherson were subjected to widespread torture including sexual violence, according to a report published Wednesday. The report reveals analysis of an initial pool of 320 cases of detention in Kherson, across more than 35 identified detention centers. The report adds that suffocation, waterboarding, severe beatings and threats of rape were other techniques commonly used against victims by Russian guards in the Kherson torture chambers, according to the specialist unit. Mykytenko says these patterns of rape and torture point towards a Russian intent to eradicate Ukrainian identity. Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of destroying the Kakhovka dam as a Western-backed tactic to escalate the conflict. Ukraine is investigating the blast as a war crime and possible criminal environmental destruction, or "ecocide". "Even in the highly unlikely scenario the dam, or indeed the area nearby, posed a valid military objective commensurate with eviscerating the dam, it is still afforded an elevated protection under international humanitarian law," she said. March 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday approved Pharming Group's drug to treat a rare genetic disorder that leads to a weakened immune system, the Dutch company said. APDS causes a lack of functioning immune cells, B cells and T cells, which makes it difficult for people with this disorder to fight off bacterial and viral infections. At least two analysts expected the drug to be priced at as much as $400,000. Oppenheimer analyst Hartaj Singh expected Joenja to be priced between $250,000 and $400,000, and forecast peak sales of $200 million to $300 million, ahead of the approval. Joenja is an oral drug that targets and blocks a form of the protein called phosphoinositide 3-kinase delta (P13K).

Nov 22 (Reuters) - Australian drugmaker CSL Ltd (CSL.AX) on Tuesday set the list price of its one-time gene therapy for hemophilia B at $3.5 million, making it the world's most expensive treatment, following its approval by the U.S. health regulator. The first gene therapy for the rare genetic blood clotting disorder offers a long-term solution for patients as against current treatments from Biogen (BIIB.O), Pfizer (PFE.N) and others that focus on regular infusions. The gene therapy consists of an engineered virus carrying a gene expressed in the liver to produce clotting factor IX. While Zynteglo was priced at $2.8 million, Skysona had a wholesale cost of $3.0 million.
