VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Sunday war was "a crime against humanity" as he reiterated a call for peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. "Let us not forget this (...) People need peace, the world needs peace," the pope said after the weekly Angelus prayer. In the prayer, he urged people not to forget those suffering due to the "cruelty of war" in several parts of the world. He has repeatedly called for peace in Ukraine and in the war in Gaza. "Let us pray that those who have power over these conflicts reflect on the fact that war is not the way to resolve them, as it sows death among civilians and destroys cities and infrastructure," the pope said.

TURIN/AMSTERDAM, Nov 30 (Reuters) - The CEO of Exor NV (EXOR.AS), the largest shareholder in Dutch healthcare equipment maker Philips NV (PHG.AS), on Thursday said he continues to believe the company's problems are solvable. Exor owns a 15% stake in Philips. The recall wiped nearly two-thirds off Philips' stock market valuation and new CEO Roy Jakobs has said that resolving the issue is his top priority. Philips stock is currently trading at 18.77 euros, about 25 cents higher than before Exor announced its investment in August. Exor is the investment arm of Italy's Agnelli family, with investments in manufacturing, sport, media, fashion, healthcare and technology companies.

The Italian-American group, whose shares are currently traded both on the NYSE and in Milan, earlier this year announced a plan to abandon its Italian listing. CNH said in a statement on Tuesday that the Milan Stock Exchange had approved an application it filed to delist its ordinary shares from Milan bourse and had set the Jan. 2 date for when a NYSE single listing will be effective. As part of its New York single-listing plan, CNH announced a new share buyback program worth up to $1 billion. The new buyback program will run between Nov. 8 and March 1 and will be funded through the company's liquidity. REUTERS/Pascal Rossignol/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsMILAN, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Unions called for a one-day strike at Stellantis' (STLAM.MI) Melfi plant in southern Italy on Sept. 18 over lack of new details by the carmaker about its future production there, UILM, FIM-CISL, Fismic and Uglm said on Friday. The Franco-Italian group in June said it planned to produce five new models in Melfi - where it employs more than 5,000 workers - with the fifth one "subject to performance improvement". Marco Lomio, the local head of UILM, said Melfi workers are called to an 8 hour strike on each of Monday's three scheduled shifts, with a total halt of the facility on that day. The strike is not related to the ongoing action by United Auto Workers in the U.S. at three factories owned by General Motors (GM.N), Ford Motor (F.N) and Chrysler parent Stellantis.

We believe we need to go to 400 gigawatt hours of capacity around the world," Bly said during the inaugurating the group's new Battery Technology Center in Turin, Italy. Bly, however, did not specify whether the group planned to build more gigafactories on top of those already announced to expand the capacity. As part of its effort to boost capacity, Stellantis on Friday said it had invested 40 million euros ($43 million) in its Turin's Battery Technology Center, in the Mirafiori complex, which will be focused on in-house testing and development of EV battery packs for upcoming group vehicles. More than 100 people will be employed in the Turin's Battery Technology Center, mostly retrained Stellantis workers, the group said adding that a similar facility for North America was being built in Windsor, Canada.

Ned Curic said current electric vehicle (EV) batteries were "just too heavy", making vehicles "not compatible" with sustainability purposes. "So what I have in mind and a very hard goal for my team by 2030 is to change the battery weight to at least 50% lighter battery," Curic said during the inauguration of the group's Battery Technology Center in Turin, Italy. "We will have to think about completely new materials, new chemistry, new way of replacing this heavy, heavy, heavy materials to something much lighter," he said. "We are consuming a lot of carbon-based energy in existing systems so moving to electric vehicle systems does allow for a lot more sustainable a future," he added.
