A Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian missile facility early Wednesday threw up towering fireballs visible from space and thundering detonations that triggered earthquake monitors. Officials on both sides said it was the result of a large Ukrainian drone attack on Toropets, a town in the Tver region around 230 miles from the Russian capital. Russian state media has previously reported that the military was building an arsenal for storing missiles and other explosives there. Russia’s air defense systems destroyed some 54 drones launched overnight against five western Russian regions, Russian state news agencies said, citing a report from Moscow’s defense ministry. Kyiv has increasingly been hitting back with drone attacks on what it says are military targets on Russian soil.

That is nearly as much as all the Republican candidates combined despite his low approval numbers. CNNThis haul comes in the same quarter Biden made his reelection campaign official, which likely helped to boost the total. As Republican candidates start to fall out, the real question will become how many of these donors are some-other-Republican-besides-Trump voters and how many are truly anybody-but-Trump voters? But what happens if most of Trump's Republican candidates stay in for the long haul? How long the candidates stay in will likely come down to money, and Republican candidate Chris Christie defended the fundraising numbers.

Wonder Land: A beside-the-point president is the best thing that has ever happened to the progressive centralization project. But its success in 2024 depends on whether Republicans back Trump or not. SEOUL, March 28 (Reuters) - North Korea unveiled new, smaller nuclear warheads as leader Kim Jong Un called for scaling up the production of weapons-grade nuclear material to expand the country's arsenal, state media KCNA said on Tuesday. KCNA released photos of the warheads, dubbed Hwasan-31, during Kim's visit to the Nuclear Weapons Institute, where he inspected new tactical nuclear weapons and technology for mounting warheads on ballistic missiles, as well as nuclear counterattack operation plans. Kim ordered the production of weapons-grade materials in a "far-sighted way" to boost its nuclear arsenal "exponentially" and produce powerful weapons, KCNA said. "The frantic war drills in the puppet region are not just military drills but nuclear war drills for a preemptive strike ... pursuant to the U.S. political and military option to escalate confrontation with the DPRK and finally lead to a war," it said. DPRK is an abbreviation for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) on Monday, after firing a massive Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Saturday. So far North Korea has fired three variants of the Hwasong-12 intermediate range ballistic missiles (IRBMs) over Japan and into the Pacific Ocean. "As soon as it is out of range, or if it crosses below the horizon, North Korea will be blind." Schiller said he is not aware of any tracking vessels that North Korea positions along the flight path, and for now it doesn't have data relay satellites. If those two conditions are met, then North Korea will have fully demonstrated its deterrence capability against the United States, he said.
(Reuters) -Federal Reserve policymakers on Wednesday signaled they will push on with more interest rate hikes, with several supporting a top policy rate of at least 5% even as inflation shows signs of having peaked and economic activity is slowing. REUTERS/Jason Reed“I just think we need to keep going, and we’ll discuss at the meeting how much to do,” Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester said in an interview with the Associated Press. The remarks appeared to reflect a widely shared view among her fellow policymakers, most of whom as of December had penciled in a 5.00%-5.25% policy rate in coming months. Mester said that for her part she expects the Fed’s policy rate to need to go “a bit higher” than that, and stay there for some time to further slow inflation. Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan also supports a slower rate hike pace ahead because of the uncertain outlook and the need to be flexible.

NOT ENOUGH FOODThe camp in the school building in the village of Ogbogu now shelters about 600 displaced people whose homes are under water. People are so desperate they are cooking with chaff that would normally be thrown away after grinding cassava to make garri, a staple food. He and those who remained were sleeping outdoors as there was no space in any of the makeshift camps that had sprung up, he said. "Even when this is over, I know that there is no money now that I can use to buy something to eat.
