Clouds said the projects typically last between five and eight weeks, though sometimes longer, and that she is working for one client at a time. AdvertisementRegardless of the project, every day typically starts with a stand-up, a meeting in which everyone on the team can share what they accomplished the day prior and what they are working on that day. Despite concerns over how AI could disrupt consulting, Clouds said she and her colleagues have worked generative AI into their workflows and that it allows them to be more efficient. New college graduates are having a harder time finding work, and as a result, some of them could see their careers and earnings take a hit for years. Meaning that recent college graduates have been more likely to be unemployed than the broader population. This new normal has worked out OK for some Americans, but it's been particularly tough on new college graduates. While the tough job market could temporarily hurt some young graduates' earnings, there's reason to be optimistic that their finances could eventually recover. But if the job market continues to prove frustrating, some of them may begin to wonder.

Carolina Williams went viral in 2017 for her unique Papa Johns-inspired essay that earned the teen admission into Yale University. The first member of her family to go to college, Williams didn't necessarily have her heart set on an Ivy League education. She loved both Yale and Auburn's campuses and could see herself as a member of either student body. But Auburn's analytics program, along with its much closer proximity to her home and family in Tennessee, won Williams over. Here's why she skipped the Ivy League and how it's worked out for her post-grad.

Federal graduate school loans are more expensive, too, with higher interest rates than loans for undergraduate studies. On top of that, 55% of master's degree-holders have debt from both their undergraduate and graduate studies, owing an average total of over $69,000. Similar to undergraduate degrees, science, technology, engineering and math-related master's degrees tend to lead to higher-paying salaries compared with degrees in the arts and humanities. That said, these are the 10 master's degrees with the highest average starting salaries for the class of 2022, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. In fact, fewer than 60% of master's degree programs deliver a positive return on investment, according to a recent study by The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity.

Before co-founding Netflix, Reed Hastings thought another of his business ideas would become a household name. Specifically, it was a "foot mouse" — where users could control a computer cursor with their feet, Hastings said at a recent Stanford Graduate School of Business event. "It was a terrible idea, but I was equally committed to that terrible idea as I was to Netflix," he said. In the case of the foot mouse, Hastings was a Stanford graduate student at the time, working toward his master's in computer science. He even hired a mechanical engineering graduate student to mockup a prototype.
