The terror attack has helped push the Middle East to the brink of a wider regional war. One year after the massacre, the Middle East has only plunged deeper into violence and is on the brink of a broader war. TEL AVIV — The six hostages recently found dead in Gaza were executed by Hamas the night before Israeli forces reached the tunnel where they were being held, government officials said Tuesday night. The IDF said it reached that tunnel and made the gruesome discovery on Aug. 30. AK-47 magazines and shell casings were found nearby, Israeli officials said. "It was a hard moment to see the bloodstains on the floor," said Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson. That's when about 1,200 people were killed in Israel and 250 people taken hostage.

The Israeli military said that the bodies were found in the Khan Younis area on Wednesday. Israeli forces retrieved the bodies of five Israeli hostages held in Gaza, the Israeli military said on Thursday, amid growing international pressure for a cease-fire deal that would involve the release of the remaining captives. The Israeli leader has been facing increasing anger from Israelis over the fate of the hostages in Gaza. The Israeli military said that the bodies were found in the Khan Younis area on Wednesday and that intelligence — including information from detained Palestinian militants — had guided forces to their location. “The war in Gaza could end tomorrow if Hamas surrenders, disarms and returns all the hostages,” Mr. Netanyahu said during his address to Congress on Wednesday.

Two Israeli officials confirmed that Mr. Biden’s proposal matched an Israeli cease-fire proposal that had been greenlit by Israel’s war cabinet. “Put your money where your mouth is.”But at home, Mr. Netanyahu faces a host of competing pressures. Yair Lapid, the leader of Israel’s parliamentary opposition, also urged Mr. Netanyahu to take the deal as outlined by Mr. Biden. He repeated that his party would back Mr. Netanyahu’s government if hard-liners like Mr. Ben-Gvir, the national security minister, left over a hostage release deal. Political analysts said Mr. Netanyahu has tried to avoid that scenario, as it would make him dependent on some of his harshest critics.

Some respondents did not mention names but wrote variants of "hostage families", reflecting the impact of the Forum itself and its "Bring them home now" campaign. Political scientist Tamar Hermann of the IDI said solidarity with the hostage families was blending with broader anti-government sentiment, partly rooted in a huge pre-war protest movement against Netanyahu's plan to overhaul the judiciary. New or existing left-wing parties could be a natural fit for any hostage relatives who did decide to go into politics. Conversely, the hostage families are seen as opponents by some on the right, and especially on the ultra-nationalist far right, which has sway over Netanyahu because it is part of his fragile coalition. Some of Netanyahu's hard-right supporters in politics and media portray the hostage families as leftists abusing public sympathy to further their anti-government agenda, said political scientist Gideon Rahat of the Hebrew University.

Only a small handful of families have met with the Israeli leader since the attacks, infuriating the hundreds of other relatives. Her husband Alon and toddler made it back to the kibbutz after hiding in the woods for 12 hours, her brother Gili Roman said on Friday. Roman-Gat, a 35-year-old dual Israeli-German national, had left Kibbutz Be'eri a month ago, fearful of the region's insecurity and had only returned there for a Sabbath visit the day before the raid, Roman said. On Friday, Roman surveyed the wreckage of the family home in Kibbutz Be'eri, an agricultural kibbutz 3 miles (5 km) from Gaza, which was one of the first towns hit in Hamas' attack. The Israeli military said it killed dozens of Hamas gunmen in the Be'eri area. "We are talking about our family, three women captured, in captivity, held hostage by the terrorist regime in Gaza," Roman said, adding relatives and friends had been searching for them since the attack.

"They will probably increase the investment in AI," Krosby said. "It could bolster support for more financial resources for tech for the military, which then ultimately transitions to the private sector tech companies," Krosby added. JERUSALEM, June 18 (Reuters) - U.S. chipmaker Intel Corp (INTC.O) will spend $25 billion on a new factory in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday, calling it the largest-ever international investment in the country. Under the deal Intel will pay a 7.5% tax rate, up from the current 5%, the ministry added. In 2017, Intel bought Israel-based Mobileye Global Inc (MBLY.O), which develops and deploys advanced driver-assistance systems, for $15 billion. Announcing the deal in televised remarks to his cabinet, Netanyahu called it "a tremendous achievement for the Israeli economy - 90 billion shekels ($25 billion) - the largest investment ever by an international company in Israel". In a statement, Intel said its Israel operations had "played a crucial role" in the company's global success.
