Sept 27 (Reuters) - Olympique de Marseille have named Italian Gennaro Gattuso as coach following the departure of Marcelino, the French Ligue 1 club said on Wednesday. The 45-year-old Gattuso takes over after Spaniard Marcelino left the club amid a feud with the Marseille supporters. Gattuso left Valencia in January, seven months after his appointment with the LaLiga side just above the relegation zone. Aug 1 (Reuters) - Senegal midfielder Iliman Ndiaye has joined his boyhood club Olympique de Marseille from newly-promoted Premier League side Sheffield United, the two clubs announced on Tuesday. Since joining United in 2019 he has played 88 games, scoring 22 goals. Ndiaye was a major cog in last season's promotion campaign in which he made 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists. The French-born Ndiaye began his career in Marseille's youth ranks in the 2011-2012 season. Ndiaye, who has seven caps, went to the Qatar 2022 World Cup where Senegal lost to England in the last 16.

Feb 18 (Reuters) - Manchester United have received a bid from Jim Ratcliffe's company INEOS for "majority ownership" of the Premier League club, the chemical firm confirmed on Saturday, adding that it would look implement a fan-centred approach. British billionaire Ratcliffe, a life-long United fan and founder of INEOS, has previously openly expressed his interest in buying the Old Trafford club. "We would see our role as the long-term custodians of Manchester United on behalf of the fans and the wider community," INEOS said in a statement. "We are ambitious and highly competitive and would want to invest in Manchester United to make them the number one club in the world once again." Frappart, 38, led the first all-female refereeing team in a men's World Cup in the game at the Al Bayt Stadium alongside assistants Neuza Back from Brazil and Mexico's Karen Diaz. Frappart entered the history books when she became the first woman to referee a French Ligue 1 match in 2019, officiating a game between Amiens and Strasbourg. The same year, Frappart also took charge of the UEFA Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea, becoming the first woman to officiate in a major men's European match.
