REUTERS/Stephanie Lecocq Acquire Licensing RightsPARIS, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Paris Fashion Week kicked off on Monday with a Pierre Cardin show in the headquarters of France's Communist Party, which was bathed in blue light to conjure up the colour of the ocean. It was the French label's second show at Paris Fashion Week since founder Pierre Cardin died in 2020, building on its space-age catwalk in March after a gap of more than two decades. Fashion Week, which runs until Oct. 3, will feature more than 100 designers, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes, dozens of new international designers, as well as French fashion house Balmain whose show will go ahead despite the theft of part of its collection. Thieves seized the vehicle carrying some 50 items between a Paris airport and the label's headquarters in the French capital.

Pope Francis meets people on the day of the weekly general audience at the Vatican, September 13, 2023. Vatican Media/Handout via REUTERS Acquire Licensing RightsPARIS, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Pope Francis' scheduled visit to France next week has stirred debate in the French political class, with left-wing politicians criticising the president for attending Mass while the far-right objects to the pope's positive views on immigration. Macron's advisers said French leaders had attended Mass before, and there was "confusion" as to what secularism means. "I disagree with Pope Francis," Marechal said on BFM TV on Thursday. France, home to Europe's largest Muslim community, is regularly convulsed with debates on immigration.

CNN —Splashing out an apartment in the south of France and renovating it yourself may sound like a difficult – and hugely expensive – task. The couple spent a year or so completing the renovations themselves, which involved putting in new flooring and repainting the walls, as well as transforming the annex area into a bedroom for their children. Meanwhile, Rixa spent most of any free time she had looking for pre-used items, including dishes, for their new place. Frugal livingEric and Rixa purchased this former Communist office in Old Nice in 2020, six years after buying the apartment over it. Courtesy Margarite FisherHe also points out that Old Nice is a place that “preceded cars” so it has much more of a neighborhood feel and lots of shared outdoor space.

"We'll make your life easier and help you set up shop here," he told ProLogium's Chief Executive Vincent Yang. It is one of four such gigafactories Macron hopes will transform the poor, former coal mining area near Belgium into a hub for the EV battery industry, creating jobs and helping to put France at the forefront of Europe's energy transition. "Results don't just fall from the sky," Macron told Reuters in Dunkirk. At the moment, however, France lags well behind Germany when it comes to attracting battery makers. Still, the IRA almost threw ProLogium's investment in France off course, one French presidential adviser told Reuters.
