I think Jensen deserves one day a year when he can trace out a vision without a per share attached to it. Sure, plenty of people in line Saturday would, correctly I think, say to "own it, don't trade it." Sure, I was sweating "own it, don't trade it." And, can you imagine if you owned but didn't trade Intel from 1990 to 2000? (Don't tell current Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, who thinks it is still alive.)

After the September meeting pause last week, the target range for the fed funds rate remained at 5.25% to 5.50%. First, I don't know a soul besides me who agrees with that 20-year versus fed funds rate yield prognosis. They think the fed funds rate will come down or the 20-year yield is already extended. Second, I don't know anyone else who believes the economy is so strong that the Fed is correct to keep on an anti-inflation course. I don't think so.

Even as I say, "own it, don't trade it," if it becomes too big, or if the story changes, then we have to sell some. (See here for a full list of the stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust.) Unlike the ridiculous short squeezes that brought about GameStop 's (GME) meme-stock maina 2½ years ago, the current market is making some sense. That means by Wednesday's Club meeting, right ahead of the Fed rate announcement, we could have a backdrop suggesting that we deserve to broaden. Bottom line Until Wednesday's Club meeting you know my mindset. As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade. Are the travails of the bond market, like Macbeth expounds, a "tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing?" The billionaire class — so incorrectly sought after by the media — so often seems to use the bond market as a sort of intellectual cudgel. That's why I always start my discussion on bonds with the simple query of "where are the layoffs, not forget about stocks, think fixed income." Here the bond market polices only those companies that haven't pivoted to making a profit. They, among all sectors, could be pummeled by the bond market freeze and by the consumers' paralysis.
Owning a Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) or a Constellation Brands (STZ) isn't exciting. When I look at the companies that have reported already, I like Home Depot (HD) and UnitedHealth (UNH), Procter & Gamble (PG) and Johnson & Johnson. This stock market is torturous. I probably spoke to a dozen Club members and we all had a more resigned attitude, accepting that there aren't many opportunities right now. The S & P 500 never really got out of control back then — and, relative to bonds, it didn't either. The Fed chairman, correctly, feared the economy was going to crash, and he would have been right. I think that's certainly how people act. I think that most participants have decided there's no hope and they are using an analogue that's 2000-2001 (dot-com bubble bursting) or even 2007 (before the financial crisis and the Great Recession). Autos have been hurt by supply chain but I think that's coming to an end.
