I've been working since I was 15 years old to put myself through school and fund my business ventures. I also have two jobs, so I'm not sure how Gen Z can be stereotyped as a lazy generation. It's helped fund goals that I once dreamed of accomplishing, and right now I'm working more than ever to build the future I want for myself. I don't want to 'hustle' foreverAll this work I'm doing is so that I can be doing a lot less when I'm in my thirties. I'm hoping to go down to just one job and operating my candle business after I finish graduate school in 2024.
This month, pandemic-related emergency funding from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps, is ending in most states, leaving many low-income families with less to spend on food. More than 41 million Americans receive funding for food through the federal program. For those households, it will amount to at least $95 less per month to spend on groceries. The nonprofit used to provide about 7 million meals per month before the pandemic and now provides between 11 million and 12 millions meals per month. "We knew these [extra SNAP funds] were going away and they were going to be sunsetted," she said.

For meteorologist Joseph Trujillo, the right translation is more than a language issue, especially when it comes to weather-related warnings. A NOAA assessment revealed a lack of weather-related resources in the Spanish language that could have helped communities take action to save lives. But those linguistic differences can bring great challenges when translating emergency information, such as weather alerts, for all Hispanic people. They designed a new list of categories that better reflect the risk of climate emergencies in simpler terms: minimum, low, moderate, high and extreme. That first experience led him to pursue meteorology and his investigative work, which he presented to the National Weather Service.
