REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo(Reuters) - Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin will take the first woman to the moon’s surface, the billionaire said on Friday as NASA nears a decision to pick its first privately built lunar landers capable of sending astronauts to the moon by 2024. “This (BE-7) is the engine that will take the first woman to the surface of the Moon,” Bezos said in a post on Instagram with a video of the engine test this week at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The BE-7 engine, which Blue Origin has been developing for years, has tallied 1,245 seconds of test-fire time and will power the company’s National Team Human Landing System lunar lander. Blue Origin leads a “national team” as the prime contractor that it assembled in 2019 to help build its Blue Moon lander.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—For decades, this city near the Florida-Georgia line has been known for its Navy bases, Southern temperament and conservative politics. But voters here backed Democrat Joe Biden for president, signaling its change into a swing region that both parties are focusing on for future elections. Over the years, Jacksonville, which mostly shares its borders with Duval County’s, lost many affluent, conservative white families who headed to the suburbs in neighboring counties. “Jacksonville’s sensibilities have changed,” said Susie Wiles, President Trump’s chief Florida campaign strategist, who lives in the area. She now works as a supervisor at Brightway Insurance, an insurance retailer based in the city.

Roellig's first student may have been her younger sister, Alexandra Roellig, who looked forward to the times when their father would take her to see the marching band. "So I followed her steps in a way, and I went in to do marching band and music, just like her." TB12 Inc., based in Massachusetts, received the loan on April 15, 2020, as part of the small business lending program created under the $2 trillion CARES Act passed by Congress and the Trump administration in March. The company announced in April plans to expand in Tampa, Florida, New York and Los Angeles. It's unclear how TB12 was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and how many jobs it retained with the loan. The pandemic has pushed millions of Americans to the cliff’s edge, with the ground crumbling at year’s end without further stimulus action by Congress. When federal emergency coronavirus relief protections expire, some as soon as the day after Christmas, 13 million Americans will lose their jobless benefits. “It’s another fiscal cliff when families have already gone over a fiscal cliff,” Diane Swonk, chief economist at Grant Thornton, told NBC News. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Friday that there is "momentum" on Capitol Hill to reach a deal on coronavirus relief, further optimism that legislation could be approved before the end of the year. Laid off in March, her unemployment benefits — which expire on Dec. 26 — barely cover her rent.

The Florida lawyer told WSB-TV that he was joking when he was captured on video speaking about the plan during a Nov. 7 political rally in the Sunshine State. Another top star in the National Basketball Association will be endorsing sports drink maker Gatorade -- but this one is a budding music star as well. Damián Lillard, the Portland Trail Blazers' superstar guard, agreed to an endorsement deal with PepsiCo's Gatorade, the company announced on Friday. Outside of the NBA, the Blazers guard has gained fame in the music industry for his hip-hop recordings, released under the name Dame D.O.L.L.A. Top hip-hop acts have embraced and collaborated with Lillard, meaning that Gatorade gets a cross-over star endorsing their product on multiple platforms. Aligning with Lillard can help Gatorade continue to hold off rivals, including Bodyarmor, aiming to overtake the sports drink category.
