Much like a crossword, a translation isn’t finished until all the answers are present and correct, with each conditioning the others.
Below are two attempts to show the thought processes involved in the kind of translation I do.
Nobody would say “the truth, the truth, the truth” in English.
Without it, the translation is faithful to the meaning of the Spanish clause, but it feels stale, spiritless, not faithful to the voice.
