On May 19, Euless Police Department officers responded to a call at an apartment complex pool regarding a disturbance between two women. Witnesses told officers “a woman who was very intoxicated had tried to drown a child and argued with the child’s mother,” police said in a news release. The woman, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, 42, was approached by officers as she tried to leave and placed under arrest for public intoxication. The victim’s mother told police Wolf was questioning where she was from and if the two children playing at the pool were hers, the release said. Prosecutors in Manhattan said on Friday that a judge should extend major elements of a gag order that was placed on Donald J. Trump, citing dozens of death threats made to District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg and other officials. The order, issued before Mr. Trump’s Manhattan criminal trial began in mid-April, bars him from attacking witnesses, jurors, court staff and members of the family of the judge who presided over the trial, Juan M. Merchan. It does not prohibit Mr. Trump from criticizing Mr. Bragg, Justice Merchan or the trial itself. In a 19-page filing on Friday, prosecutors argued that Justice Merchan no longer needed to enforce the portion of the gag order relating to trial witnesses, but they said he should keep in place the provisions protecting jurors, prosecutors, court staff and their families. The New York Police Department has logged 56 “actionable threats” since the beginning of April directed against Mr. Bragg, his family and staff members in his office, according to an affidavit provided with the filing.

Organizers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics plan to hold swimming in the home of the NFL’s Rams and Chargers — and softball and canoe slalom in Oklahoma. That’s according to an amended venue plan unveiled Friday by LA28, the 2028 Games’ organizing committee. It will be the largest swimming venue in Games history, per LA28, with 38,000 seats. LA28 organizers faced one complication with the SoFi swimming plan, however: The stadium is also set to be part of the Games’ opening ceremonies. U.S. crude oil held firm above $81 per barrel on Thursday, with the benchmark heading for its second weekly gain in a row. West Texas Intermediate has gained 4% this week, while global benchmark Brent is up 3.3%. JPMorgan is forecasting that Brent will hit $90 per barrel in September as the market tightens on falling inventories.
