CNN —Not content with dressing the top dogs of the music scene, from Beyoncé and Usher to Christina Aguilera, Dolce & Gabbana now has its sights on making actual dogs that bit more stylish. Inspiration for the product that the world didn’t know it needed came from the “unconditional love” that Domenico Dolce – one half of the famous designer duo – has for his “loyal dog Fefé,” according to the company’s website. A series of well-groomed dogs appear on camera in a promotional film on the D&G website. As classical music plays in the background, a narrator says: “I am delicate, charismatic, authentic, sensitive, enigmatic, rebel, fresh, irresistible, clean. I lost my hair. Then I found myself.

For more than a year, I had been dealing with my progressive hair loss and clamoring for some sort of control. I launched into the story of my hair loss journey, attempting to convey the stress and uncertainty that had defined the past year. I purchased a long brown human hair wig that initially looked natural in the shop lighting. I learned I had a lot to learn; there was a whole "wearing hair" subculture with special lingo that I knew nothing about. I accepted that I have hair loss and I'm aging, and one day, I'll look in the mirror, and it won't be just my hair that's changed.

"I have friends that say that TikTok Shop has ruined the app," Casey Lewis, a trends researcher, said. "It can be good — especially as TikTok moves to TikTok Shop — if they're able to capitalize on this shift and sell products more effectively to older users." Just because something is going viral on TikTok doesn't necessarily mean Gen Z is behind it. The same could be said of Gen Z, which would explain the generations' shared fascination with a time before smartphones and round-the-clock news. The Gen Z users I spoke with didn't seem particularly concerned about an influx of olds.

Vermont lawmakers are debating a 3% tax on people who make more than $500,000. Massachusetts added $1 billion to its budget with a similar tax last year. In Massachusetts — the most recent state to adopt one — taxing the rich added $1 billion to the state budget in 2023 and helped provide the state's public school students with free school lunches (and breakfasts, too). About half the money earned from the tax went to education, while the other half went toward transportation, city officials said. State lawmakers introduced a law that, if passed, would place a 3% tax on people with adjusted gross income of more than $500,000.

Vermont Becomes Latest State to Propose Wealth Taxes

Lawmakers in Vermont are introducing legislation this week that would impose new taxes on the state’s wealthiest residents, joining a growing national campaign being pushed by Democrats who believe that the measures will gain traction as states reckon with post-pandemic budget squeezes. One proposal in Vermont would tax people with more than $10 million in net worth on their capital gains, even if the gains have not yet been realized. Another would add a 3 percent marginal tax on individual incomes exceeding $500,000 a year — a measure that supporters contend could pump $98 million, or almost 5 percent of the annual budget, into the state’s coffers. To underscore the bills’ importance to the Democratic leaders who control the legislature, both are being sponsored by State Representative Emilie Kornheiser of Brattleboro, who chairs the Ways and Means Committee. “We want to make sure that all Vermonters are paying their fair share.”
