Metro Bank opened in 2010 as the first challenger to Britain’s major main street banks — including Lloyds (LYG), Barclays (BCS) and HSBC (HSBC) — in more than 100 years. Metro Bank’s assurances did little to support its share price, which pared some of its earlier losses but was down by 31% again by late afternoon in London. Dan Ackerman wrote the 2016 book "The Tetris Effect: The Game That Hypnotized the World." And he's accusing The Tetris Company of adapting his work into this year's film about the video game. His lawsuit lists 22 similarities between the book and film, as well as the underlying plot. The editor-in-chief of tech publication Gizmodo is accusing Apple and The Tetris Company of adapting his book about the video game into a movie without his permission. Apple and The Tetris Company did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, sent outside US working hours.

Evva Hanes, a North Carolina farm woman who took a centuries-old Moravian cookie tradition that she had learned by watching her mother bake on a wood-fired stove and turned it into a family business, one that now ships out millions of fragile, crispy Moravian cookies every year, died on June 22 at her home in Clemmons, N.C. She was 90. The cause was complications of brain cancer, said her grandson Jedidiah Hanes Templin, who is president of the Moravian Sugar Crisp Company, better known as Mrs. Hanes’ Hand-Made Moravian Cookies. Before the American Revolutionary War, some left for Pennsylvania, taking with them a recipe for a spice-heavy ginger cookie called Lebkuchen. They kept moving, and in the mid-1700s began a religious community on a large tract of land in North Carolina that would become the city of Winston-Salem. The Southern food scholar John Egerton wrote that the North Carolina Moravians, like the Pennsylvania Dutch — whom he called “their theological and gastronomical kin” — have maintained a strong baking tradition that is hundreds of years old.

CNN —The nominees for the 80th Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday. Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva, two of the stars from “Lopez vs. Lopez,” announced the range of film and television nominees as selected by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). Favored Oscars contender “The Banshees of Inisherin” led the film categories, with nominations including best musical or comedy film. It stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The ceremony, which was not broadcast last January over controversy surrounding the HFPA, will return to NBC on Jan. 10.

REUTERS/David SwansonLOS ANGELES, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Elton John performed his final North American concert of his farewell tour on Sunday, with a star-studded show at the Los Angeles Dodger Stadium. On Sunday, he wore a robe version of that Dodger uniform. The three-hour "Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium" concert, which was streamed on Disney+, saw the 75-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner belt out hits including "Bennie and the Jets", "I'm Still Standing" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". John has performed 183 shows across the United States and Canada as part of the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour which began in September 2018.
