Southern Glazer’s, based in Miami and operating in 44 US states, is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States. Abandoned antitrust law from 1936The FTC lawsuit, previously reported by Politico, could come in the next few weeks and would rely on the Robinson-Patman Act of 1936, the source said. That Depression-era law prohibits suppliers from providing deeper discounts to large chains than to smaller stores. At the time, the antitrust law was aimed at helping smaller grocers survive when A&P and other chains dominated with lower prices. However, a person familiar with the matter said Southern Glazer’s discounts are available to all retailers where permitted by state law.

New York CNN —The New York Times is facing questions about a sweeping investigative story it published on the Israel-Hamas war back in December. But key elements of The Times’ reporting in telling that larger story have since fallen under the microscope. “We weren’t aware of the rape initially; we were informed only when The New York Times’ journalist approached us,” her mother told the Israeli outlet YNet. we don’t know exactly what happened.”“It was only following the New York Times investigation that we learned from the journalists that my sister had been raped,” Abdush’s brother added to YNet. In this case, there is a large volume of evidence to indicate that Hamas carried out sexual assaults during the October 7 attack.

The platform, which Schwartz describes as "Etsy for software products," currently brings in roughly $354,000 per month, according to a CNBC Make It estimate. "You want to really orient yourself around a real problem that needs to be solved," Schwartz, 25, tells Make It. During high school, he and Zoub built sneaker bots, or pieces of software that nabbed limited-edition shoes faster than people who manually clicked "buy now." The company clearly solved a problem, but the co-founders didn't find the work creatively fulfilling. It solved a safety problem: Zoub patrolled online forums where people sold software, and found them rife with scammers and rip-off artists.

Redett, who will take over from Curt Buser on Oct. 1, joined Carlyle 16 years ago and currently leads the firm's global financial services. Redett, who previously worked for U.S. banking giants Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and JPMorgan (JPM.N), will also become the head of corporate strategy at Carlyle. Carlyle hired Schwartz, a former Goldman Sachs (GS.N) executive, as its chief executive officer earlier this year, after a six-month long search. But the judge who sentenced Maly noted that most of his crimes date back to his 20s. Maly told US District Judge Amit Mehta that he regrets traveling to Washington and following the mob of then-President Donald Trump's supporters to the Capitol. It's that you did these things and kept doing them that day," the judge told him. Maly testified at his trial that participating in the Capitol riot was "fun" for him. The judge sentenced Schwartz last month to 14 years and two months in prison, the longest for a Jan. 6 case before Rhodes, and sentenced Brown in April to four years and six months in prison.

A lawyer used ChatGPT to help search for legal cases to write an affidavit backing his lawsuit. The AI hallucinated six fake cases, per a federal judge, which the lawyer included in the filing. US District Court Judge P. Kevin Castel asked lawyer Steven Schwartz of personal injury law firm Levidow, Levidow & Oberman, according to Inner City Press. The court filing included six court cases that were "bogus judicial decisions with bogus quotes and bogus internal citations," Castel wrote in a previous court order. "I have worked with Mr. Schwartz for 27 years," LoDuca said in court, Inner City Press reported.

A Kentucky man with 38 prior convictions received the longest January 6 sentence yet on Friday. Prosecutors said Schwartz used stolen police pepper spray to attack officers several times that day. During the attack, Schwartz stole chemical irritants, including pepper spray that was abandoned by police officers during the chaos, and then used it to attack authorities multiple times that day. "You took it upon yourself to try and injure multiple police officers that day," Mehta said in court on Friday. Schwartz was on probation when he took to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to the AP, stemming from one of his "jaw-dropping" 38 prior convictions since 1991, prosecutors said.
The fund isn't tied to any index, nor does Schwartz try to mimic a specific sector weighting. About 40% of the fund's investments today are in energy, Schwartz said, with no bets on the consumer defensive and utilities sectors, according to Morningstar data. Then a trust, many people steered clear of the large Texas land owner, which owns land often used for oil and gas drilling, and traded at around $150 a share. Schwartz's bet on energy extends to a more traditional stake in Chevron , (4.3% of the fund) which he calls a premiere integrated oil and gas company. But Schwartz started accumulating energy stocks well before the latest rally, when crude oil plummeted during the pandemic.
