Read previewThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Kristi Campbell, a 28-year-old business consultant, who moved into micro-home community South Park Cottages in 2023. In 2022, my boyfriend sent me a link to South Park Cottages' website, a Black-owned tiny home village. South Park Cottages afforded me the opportunity to buy my first home sooner than planned — it was the official stamp for adulthood. AdvertisementBefore I was even considered for a home at South Park Cottages, I had to be pre-approved for the full loan amount of the home. I chose South Park Cottages' preferred lender, along with a preferred closing attorney.

Chick-fil-A's oldest restaurant is closing on Sunday after 56 years of operation, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The restaurant in Greenbriar Mall, Atlanta, first opened in 1967 and sold chicken sandwiches for $0.59. "At the time, the concept of a shopping mall restaurant was groundbreaking," Chick-fil-A says in a history of the Greenbriar Mall store, describing it as a "pioneer in the modern-day food court." The restaurant later relocated to a larger spot in the mall. Chick-fil-A's first free-standing restaurant didn't open until nearly two decades later in North Druid Hills, northeast Atlanta.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermidATLANTA, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Americans on Monday were lining up yet again to buy Powerball tickets, dreaming of winning a $1.9 billion lottery jackpot that had jumped to a record high after repeated drawings failed to produce a winner. It remained down on Monday afternoon except for a home page listing Saturday's winning numbers and the new jackpot estimate. "Someone has to win," Spencer said after he shelled out cash for two $2 tickets at a Chevron station in east Atlanta. The previous record for a Powerball jackpot came in 2016, when three ticketholders from California, Florida and Tennessee shared a $1.586 billion top prize.
