But a new study suggests that an additional demographic is at risk: seniors. Poisonings doubled after Canada legalized sale of the cannabis flower, and then tripled just 15 months later, when Canada legalized the sale of edibles. Nearly 120,000 heat-related emergency room visits were recorded in the surveillance program last year, with more than 90 percent of them occurring between May and September, the researchers found. For many, we may be the first health care workers they meet at their most dismal hour.
