Linda Bean, an heir to the Maine outdoor retailer L.L. Bean who created a company of her own to market other famous Maine products, chiefly lobster rolls and seaside rentals, and who was an outspoken conservative in a state with a tradition of favoring political independents, died on Saturday. She was 82. An obituary, which did not cite a cause or say where she died, was posted by the funeral home handling her burial. Ms. Bean was a granddaughter of Leon Leonwood Bean, the purveyor of rubber-soled duck boots and plaid flannel shirts that crossed over from hunters to preppies, fueling the company’s growth into a national catalog behemoth and one of Maine’s largest employers.

South Koreans go to the polls on April 10 to select a new 300-member National Assembly. Mr. Yoon won the presidential election in March 2022 by a razor-thin margin, and three months later, his People Power Party won the most big-city mayor and provincial governor races. But two major handicaps have hobbled his presidency: his party’s lack of control in the single-chamber Assembly and Mr. Yoon’s low approval ratings. Mr. Yoon will also see it as lending political legitimacy to his policy of aligning South Korea more closely with the United States. But if the opposition scores a decisive win, it will further weaken Mr. Yoon’s leadership and may turn him into an early lame duck, political analysts say.

Famed chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck spoke to CNN's Elizabeth Wagmeister on the red carpet a short time ago. He's the man behind the menu at the exclusive Governors Ball, the lavish after-party held after each Academy Awards. Some of the night's biggest stars will feast on smoked salmon, macaroni and cheese, mushroom risotto with truffles, Peking duck and much more, Puck said. He also told Wagmeister about some of his favorite interactions with A-listers, including the time actor Joaquin Phoenix stepped into the kitchen to enjoy his meal with the staff, and the time Julia Roberts kissed the chefs as she exited through the kitchen. Legendary funny-man Bill Murray also made an appearance on one occasion, throwing steak salt everywhere.
